ARCHDIOCESE OF WELLINGTON.

(From our own correspondent.) July 1. Three young ladies from Wellington are to be received as Sisters of Mercy at the Couvenl Chapel, Hill street, next Sunday. Mr. Lockington, a recent convert to the Catholic faith, has, with three other young men, left for Ireland to study for the priesthood. The Very Rev. Father Lane, of the Hutt, is still suffering from the effects of an attack of influenza contracted on the day of the opening of the Petone Church. During the absence of Mr. D. Kenny, who is enjoying a holiday with his parents in Hastings, Mr. C. M'Donald is in charge of the organ at St. Mary of the Angels'. On Sunday afternoon, at St. Mary of the Angels', Boulcott street, the following young ladies were received into the Confraternity of the Children of Mary, by the rev. director, Father O'Shea :—: — Misses Maher (2), Carmody, Wilmot, Brett, Boyce, Kelly, Quinlivan, and Day. A few words of exhortation from their director, followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, concluded the ceremony. The entertainments given by the Marist Brothers Old Boys' Association to their friends have reached a standard of excellence which was altogether unexpected when they were inaugurated. Though, perhaps, rather long, that of last Tuesday was one of which the Association may feel justlyj ustly proud. Songs were sung by Messrs. M'Carthy, Lawlor, Kays, Toner, Walsh, Dunne, Law, Tabor, Jones, Taylor, M'Keowen and Girling-Butcher ; and recitations were given by Messrs. North, Callum, Kays, and Sheridan. Mr. Heily gave a bone solo, and Messrs. Russell and Malone contributed step and hornpipe dances respectively. Miss M. Quinn acted as accompanist.
