ST MARY'S BOYS' SCHOOL, INVERCARGILL. (Southland Times, December 20th.)
The distribution of prizes to the pupils of St Mary's school took plaoe on Thursday last, Following ia the prize list :— Standard 111., Ist, A Collins ; 2nd, O McCarthy. Standard IV., Ist, L Culling ; 2nd, W Hishon. Standard V,, lat, A Mclntyre ; 2nd, W Shepherd. Standard VI., Ist, T McGrath; 2nd, J Reid ; 3rd, J Stanton. Standard VII,, Ist, A McDonnell ; 2nd, G Louden ; 3rd, R McCarthy, Good conduct and attendance, J Hughes ; special for highest percentage of marks, A Colling. The Bey Father Vereker in distributing the prizes congratulated the boys on the result of their efforts during the past year and on the nature of the instruction imparted to them. The fact that with two exceptions all the boys had passed their standards was sufficient comment on that, Ho complimented Mr McSherry on the success of the school, and was pleased to notice a marked improvement in the conduct of the boys. He concluded by urging the boys to enjoy their vacation in every reasonable way, and to do nothing which might bring discredit on the school.
