Fathers Egan and Patterson, respectively of Auckland and Palmerston North, arrived in Blenheim from Picton on Monday evening, the 29th ult. On Tuesday His Grace and Dr. Luck, accompanied by the Rev. Fathers Patterson, Lewis, and Aubry, and Mr. Joseph Weird sen., visited the St. Mary's Boy's School, Maswell Road. When the distinguished visitors had taken their seats on the platform, Master Edmund J. Walsh stepped forward, and for himself and hiß schoolmates delivered in an easy and dignified manner a nicelyworded and appropriate address of welcome to His Grace the Archbishop, during the delivery of which, as well as at its conclusion, the young spokesman was deservedly applauded. His Grace replied in that pleasing and happy way of his, so delightful ts children, as also did His Lordship of Auckland, — the boys from time to time cheering lustily. Some recitations weTe given by the pupils in capital style. The visitors expressed their pleasure at the ability displayed by the children, and complimented all concerned on the admirable order and discipline of the school. The boys throughout were in high spirits, and towards the conclusion, when His Grace announced that they were to have two holidays — one in his own name and one in honour of the visit of Dr. Luck, they used their lungs in a style indicating very plainly the absence of consumption. The visitors were also very much pleased with the schoolroom acd furniture, remarking that the height of the building, and the ventilation were all that could be desired for the health and comfort of the children. The convent and schools were next visited, where a hearty " cead viille falthe " awaited His Grace, His Lordship of Auckland, and prieit-<, mottoes of welcome being conspicuous wherever they went: The children received the Archbishop with a hymn of welcome, and the Bishop of Auckland with an address. The visitors were entertained by the young ladies with some choice selections of music and recitations, all giving evidence of their caceful training by the good Sisters. On this occasion thi re were 140 children present, and in the boya' school sixty-two His Grace and Dr. Luck, as well aa the priests and the other visitors, were highly pleased and gratified with the piogressof Catholic education in Blenheim, and thanked the young ladies and children for the entertainment given them, and also for the kindly sentiments of the addresses.
