SPECIAL NOTICE

Body of Child found OroTiKi.— On the 24th ultimo, the dead body of a newly born female child was found on the beach at Waiotahi. Tho body, which was in an old grain-sack, was naked and in a state of decomposition and its race could not be determined. A post-mortem examination revealed that death had occurred a few days previous to the finding of the body, and that it was 12 in. long. The umbilical cord had not been tied. There were no marks of violence on the body, and it could not be ascertained whether the child had breathed or not, but death probably occurred during birth as the result of a difficult labour. Any information regarding the parentage of the child is to be communicated to the Inspector of Police, Gisborne.
