SPECIAL NOTICES.
Auckland. —At about 10.40 p.m. on the 15th October last, Corporal Norman Edward Klopf, of the armed forces of the United States of America, was found injured in Cook Street. He was removed to hospital where he died on the 24th October last, and a post-mortem examination revealed that he died from a fractured skull. At the time he received the injuries he is believed to have been in a drunken brawl with a Man (name unknown), age about forty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., Maori, medium build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes, flat nose; probably wearing working clothes. Any information regarding the offence is to be communicated to the Superintendent of Police, Auckland.
Body of Child found. Christchurch. —On the 4th instant, the dead body of a new-born male European child was found in a rubbish-tin in the ladies’ waiting-room at the railway-station. The body was unwrapped. The umbilical cord had been torn and • was not • tied. No placenta was present. A postmortem examination revealed that it was a full-term child, seven pounds, and had breathed. Death was due to asphyxia, probably through no proper attention at birth. Birth had occurred within three days prior to finding the body, which is believed to have been placed in the receptacle during the twenty-four hours ending at 5.30 a.m. on the 4th instant. Any information likely to assist in discovering the parents of the child is to be communicated to the Superintendent of Police, Christchurch. Police Identification-card lost. TiMAittJ. Between the 24th and 28th ultimo, Constable Leonard Wilson Wakelin (No. 3665) lost his identificationcard. Members of tSe Force are to be on the alert to recover it,
