Description: A Record plane, size 03 ; a Record plane, size 08 ; two bevelled-edge 1£ in. chisels, Firmer brand; a pair of 1811/6 wing compasses; a pair of 222/10 Tinmen’s snips; a Campbell wooden jackplane, 2£ in. size ; and a D. 112/6 point Disston hand saw ; total value, £6 15s. Christchurch. July" last, on warrant for housebreaking, H. McDonald (name probably fictitious), age about forty-seven, heght about 5 ft. 11 in., strong build, fair complexion, auburn hair turning grey, light-blue eyes; faint semi-circular scar on chin, portion of left forefinger nail missing, slightly knock-kneed ; wearing blue suit with stripes, grey felt hat, salmon-coloured shirt, grey and green tie, and black shoes without toe-caps. On the above date the dwelling of Mabel Howard, 71 Pages Road, was broken into and the property described in Police Gazette, 1941, page 714, stolen. The ring and the two bangles with embossed designs on them have been recovered, having been sold on the Bth ultimo to a second-hand dealer by the man described above. Accused is suspected of having committed numerous similar offences in the city and has sold a quantity of stolen jewellery in which transactions he used the names George Davis, A. Johnstone, John Waite, and a number of other names. He has been seen wearing a dark-grey suit, an air-force blue overcoat, and a blue or dark-green hat. Accused obtained £lO cash from Gerald Patrick Goulding, licensee, Central Hotel, Colombo Street, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount, No. A. 69106, drawn on the Commercial Bank of Australia, Westport, in favour of “ Cash,” signed “ J. E. Easton,” and dated 26th August, 1941. The cheque was from a book, the property of Robert Laurence Hawick, grocer, Karamea, who lost it in the city on 7th August last. Accused may be in possession of this cheque-book which contains forms, Nos. A. 69107-120. No warrant.

Timaru. — Ivor Robert Prescott, default of maintenance (see Police Gazette, 1941, page 744): It has been ascertained by the Wellington police that he left this Dominion for Sydney (Australia) on the sth July last.

Dunedin. —l7th ultimo, that he may be located and induced to pay £1 2s.
