SPECIAL NOTICE.
Assault and Robbery. Auckland. —At 10.45 a.m. on the 28th ultimo, while walking along Victoria Street West on his way to the Bank of New South Wales, Colin McKenzie Jackson, age fifteen years and a half, was assaulted by a Man (name unknown), age about thirty-time?, height about 5 ft. 9 in., strong build, dark complexion, black hair, harsh voice; wearing a navyblue suit coat and dark trousers (no hat), who struck complainant on the arm as he was passing the Victoria Hotel and snatched from him a brown leather brief-bag (recovered), containing the following money and c eques, the property of the Waitemata Trading Co., 12 Pitt Street: A cheque for £139 16s. Id. (recovered); £305 2s. 9d. in money, made up of a £lO note, £5, £l, and 10s. notes, and 2s. 9d. in silver ; a cheque for £l3B 12s. Id., No. 9313, drawn on the National Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, by the Myrl Slipper Co., in favour of the Waitemata Trading Co., marked “ Not Negotiable,” and dated 20/10/41 ; a cheque for £3O Bs., No. 11775, drawn on the National Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, 1 y the Myrl Slipper Co., in favour of the Waitemata Trading Co., marked “ Not Negotiable,” and dated 20/10/41 ; a cheque for £lO, No. A. 94257, drawn on the Bank of New South Wales, Auckland, by B. Kissin, in favour of “Cash,” dated 16/10/41; a cheque for £5 11s., No. 641799 drawn on the Bank of New. South Wales, Auckland, by B. Kissin, in favour of M. Brennan or “ Bearer,” dated 24/10/41 ; a cheque for £5 No. 77876 drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Otahuhu, by the Farmers’ Pump Service, in favour of the Waitemata Trading Co., dated 24/10/41 ; a cheque for £l, No. 194023, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, by M. C. Dyer, in favour of “ Cash,” dated 24/10/41 ; a cheque for £4 10s. 2d., No. 66050, drawn on the National Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, by the New Zealand Dairy Co., in favour of G. W. and S. L. Prest, marked “ Not Negotiable ” ; a cheque for £1 125., No. 3 A. 526609, drawn on the Union Bank of Australia, Auckland, by the Discharged Prisoners’ Aid Society, in favour of the Waitemata Loan Co.; a cheque for £3 2s. 6d., No. W. 988370, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, by J. Titford, in favour of the Waitemata Trading Co.; a cheque for £2, No. 41, drawn on the National Bank of New Zealand by the Patriotic Association, in favour of “ No. 41 ” or “ Bearer,” marked “ Not Negotiable,” and dated 24/10/41 ; and a cheque for £2, No. B. 958299, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, by F. Zambucca, in favour of J. Sinclair or “ Bearer ” ; total value, £649 9s. 7d. Cheques identifiable. The recovered property was found in a telephone-cabinet in Wyndham Street about half an hour after the offence had been committed. Any information concerning the offence is to be urgently communicated to the Superintendent of Police, Auckland.
