Office of the Under-Secretary of Justice, J. 34/28/221. Wellington, 29th September, 1941. Memorandum for The Commissioner of Police, Wellington. Allowances to Constables acting and relieving as Clerks of Courts. Due to the non-receipt of advice from an authorized officer of the Police Department regarding the nature of the leave taken from time to time by Constable Clerks of Court, difficulty is experienced in this Office in connection with the payment of allowances. To assist this Office would you please draw the attention of your Officers to the terms of employment set out in Police Gazette, 1935/446, with particular emphasis as to paragraph (7) which requested that all changes, &c., to which allowances apply be promptly notified. When advising me of any change it is very necessary that the nature of the leave being taken by the Constable Clerk of Court be stated. B. L. Dallard, Under-Secretary.
