EXTRACT FROM NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Notice approving certain Activities of “Jehovah’s Witnesses ” and other Organizations. In the matter of the Public Safety Emergency Regulations 1940. Whereas by a notice dated the 21st day of October, 1940, and published in the Gazette on the 24th day of October, 1940, the organization or organizations known as “ Jehovah’s Witnesses ” or “ Witnesses of Jehovah,” “ The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society,” and “ The International Bible Students Association ” (all hereinafter referred to as “ the said organizations ”), were declared a subversive organization or organizations for the purposes of the Public Safety Emergency Regulations 1940, and the amendments thereof: Now, therefore, pursuant to the Public Safety Emergency Regulations 1940, as amended by the Public Safety Emergency Regulations 1940, Amendment No. 1, and the Public Safety Emergency Regulations 1940, Amendment No. 4, I do hereby consent, subject to the conditions hereinafter appearing, to members of any of the said organizations summoning, organizing, conducting, addressing, ■ attending, or inviting any present or past member of any of the said organizations to attend any meeting held or proposed to be held by or for the purposes of any of the said organizations if the meeting is held or proposed to be held, as the case may be, for study of the Bible, prayer, or worship and for no other purpose and if all the following conditions are complied with, namely : (a) That the meeting is held or proposed to be held within a building or in a tent: ( b ) That no public notice of the meeting or proposed meeting is given except such as may be permitted by a constable : (c) That the meeting is not commenced or continued or proposed to be commenced or continued if any persons are present thereat other than members or former members of any of the said organizations ; And I do hereby further consent to the payment of moneys to or for the benefit of any of the said organizations for the purposes only of any meeting or proposed meeting of any of the said organizations, if the meeting is held or proposed to be held, as the case may be, for study of the Bible, prayer, or worship, and for no other purpose, and if all the foregoing conditions as to any such meeting or proposed meeting are complied with.
