Whangarei. Between 1930 and 1931, from a launch, the property of STANLEY JOHN SNOW, 13 Wallace Street, a •303 calibre S.M.L.E. rifle, barrel No. 6820, body No. 944 over 05 ; value £2. Identifiable. P j, / / JjQiSwl/ 2>/Jy W ' Auckland. —On the 31st July last the dwelling of HERMAN McKAIL GEDDES, Rangiwai Road, Titirangi, was broken into and the following stolen: A gentleman’s silver hunting Howard watch, engine-turned case, engraved on back “ Auckland Grammar School Board of Governors Watch, Presented to H. Geddes, 1919 ” ; a gold medal with Auckland Grammar School” on obverse side and “Old Boys’ Cup, 440 yards, presented to H. Geddes, 1919 ” on reverse side; and a brown canvas cabin-trunk which may have “ Bates ” or “ Geddes ” stencilled in black on it, containing two Damask tablecloths dyed fawn with “ G ” in monogram embroidered on corner of each ; a table eightmat set of heavy cream linen; a table eight-mat set of white linen with shamrock design; a table eight-mat set of white linen with blue Italian embroidery on edges; a table eightmat set of white linen with white embroidered edges; six single sheets of Irish linen; about eighteen serviettes, some Damask and some linen, “G ” embroidered in corner of some; twelve- Irish linen pillow-slips ; a pair of double sheets of Irish linen; a quantity of single sheets and pillow-slips; six large beach-towels of Turkish towelling, various patterns, with embroidered monograms about 6 in. high, ending with letter “G ” ; twelve bath-towels of Turkish towelling and of various colours ; fifteen face-towels of Irish linen of various colours; a cream-coloured linen double-bed spread, heavily embroidered all over and “B” in monogram in centre; and a number of doilies, tray-cloths, &c.; total value, £54. Auckland. — 21st July last, from a bedroom at the rear of the hairdresser’s shop of KANJI DULLABH, 6a Wakefield Street, a gentlemen’s round rolled gold wristlet watch with Arabic numerals, luminous dial, and gold band about Jin. wide ; value £2. - Identifiable. The offence may have been committed by one of three soldiers who called at the shop together and were shaved by complainant. Two of them John Robert William McDonald.and Davison— were interviewed, but no evidence resulted. The third soldier is Sapper Beatty, who is at present overseas.

Auckland. 9th August last, from a bedroom at 12 Mason’s Avenue, Herne Bay, the property of CONSTANCE SALLERY,' a ladies’ dress ring with platinum shank and mount, set with a large diamond in claw setting, at each side of the diamond the mount is shaped like a leaf, and a small diamond is set in each leaf ; vahie, £l5O. Suspicion is attached to Frederick George Semb, referred to in Police Gazette, 1929, page 557, and Photographs, 1926, page 68. He shared the room, but he disappeared, and it was then discovered that the property described had been stolen. Stratford. —Between the 29th June and 6th July last, from the dwelling of DOROTHY ANNETTA PAYTON, dressmaker, Broadway, an 18 ct. gold engagement ring set with a bluish-red opal in seven-claw setting ; value, £8 10s. Identifiable.

Wellington. —Between the Ist June and 15th July last from the dwelling of CLARENCE LEVINSON, 68 Salamanca Road, a double-breasted navy-blue suit with white stripes, fit man 5 ft. 8 in., made by O’Brien and Earle, Melbourne, and their brand is on coat and vest; a pair of grey flannel plus fours, made by Frank Petrie, Willis Street; and a silver cigarette-case, about 4 in. by 3 in., St. Peters College crest on front, case opens by pressing crest; total value, £lO 10s. Identifiable.

Wellington.— During the week prior to the Ist ultimo, from a glass case in the DOMINION MUSEUM, a 9 mm. calibre German Luger automatic pistol, No. 7236, infantry issue, 1916 model, firing-pin missing ; value, £3. Identifiable.

Wellington South. sth or 6th ultimo, the property of BED RICH FREDERICK TURNOVSKY, a portable Empire Junior typewriter, No. 31832, black leather case ; value, £lB. Identifiable. When complainant’s effects arrived at 213 Adelaide Road from 16 Clifton Terrace the typewriter could not be found.

Timaru. — the 3rd June and Ist July last, from the dwelling of JEAN GOW, 48 Elizabeth Street, a gold bangle set with three stonesprobably amethysts ; an enamel brooch with heads of three soldiers on it; a gold bar brooch, with gold ring in centre, set with about six or seven heliotrope stones (probably aquamarines) set on the ring with about the same number of pearls set alternately (one pearl missing); a gold bar brooch set with about eight or nine rubies and diamonds on “S ” which is on a ring on the brooch ; a silver brooch with “ May ”on it; a rolled-gold necklet with a coin similar to a threepenny piece attached on which is inscribed the Lord’s Prayer ; a number of small cheap brooches ; and about 12s. in money ; total value, £6 15s. Jewellery identifiable.

Oamaru. —Between the 11th and 14th July last, from the dwelling of LILY YOUNG, 21 Thames Street, a lades’ 18 ct. gold ring, claw set with piece of Chinese jade ; a ladies’ nickel Swiss wristlet watch, black moire band ; and £1 16s. in money. Ring identifiable.

Dunedin.— On the 6th ultimo, the dwelling of ROBERT ROBINSON, Henley, was broken into and the following stolen: A -22 calibre single-shot Remington rifle, No. 37761, model 41; and about forty rounds of ammunition for the rifle; total value £2 12s.
