UNCLAIMED PROPERTY.
Russell. —-On the 18th January last, the following described watch was found on the main road at Paihia and has not been claimed : A ladies’ gold open-face oval wristlet, gold dial, “ Baume ” on dial, No. 863159 on inside back case, “ /4-38, 6546 ” also scratched inside back case.
Auckland. lnquiries are to be made for the owner of the property described hereunder, which was found in possession of Raymond William Peter Battersby and William Ernest Hewins (both referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 237) at the time of their arrest on the 10th January last : A brown leather attache-case, 16 in. by 12 in.; a 9 ct. gold bracelet, about £ in. wide, embossed in centre, safetychain attached; a ladies’ 15 ct. gold single opal dress ring, claw setting, split shank ; a ladies’ broken gold band ring, embossed on outside ; a 9 ct. gold muff-chain, about 12 in. long ; a 9 ct. gold brooch, ty in. spit bar, set with amethyst, clip broken ; a greenstone bangle, six greenstone oval links, each set with a pearl in centre, joined with three gold links, 9 ct. gold locket with safety-chain attached ; a ladies’ round nickel-plated Swiss wristlet- watch, 15 jewel, case No. 0-925, gold-coloured dial, black Arabic numerals; a German threemark piece ; a French two-franc piece ; two French onefranc pieces ; three American five-cent pieces ; an American quarter dollar ; an American one-dime piece ; an American one-cent piece ; a Fijian penny ; and an American-Phillipine Island ten-cent piece.
Petone. —-The overcoat described hereunder was found in possession of Clifford Ackroyd, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 363, who has been convicted of stealing it, but the owner has not been found : A gentlemen’s double-breasted navy-blue tweed, lined in shoulders and sleeves with black silk material, 50 in. long, fit man about 5 ft. 6 in., and of slight build, vent in back, no belt nor cuffs, three square pockets on outside, two square pockets on inside.
