PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. 29th August last, from a motor-car in the Auckland Public Hospital grounds, the property of Dr. KENNETH MACKENZIE, 27 Princes Street, a leather brief-bag, 18 in. by 12 in. by 6 in., “ K.M.” in gilt letters on one corner, containing a white linen bag, about 12 in. by 10 in., “ Mr. K. MacKenzie ”in ink on it; six dilators (steel rods with bright nickel surface) ranging in diameter from in. to in., and about 10 in. long ; and a vaginal heavyweight speculum of steel with bright nickel surface, about 12 in. long : total value, about £l6 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. 4th ultimo, from the band-room of the Salvation Army Congress Hall, Grey’s Avenue, the property of CHARLES ALEXANDER WILSON, 40 Milton Road, a gentlemen’s double-breasted grey tweed overcoat with dark grey linging, “ Horace Bull, Ltd.” on tag ; value, £6 ss. Identifiable.

Wellington. —During the night of the 16th ultimo, the countinghouse of GOODYEAR TIRE CO., 7 Vivian Street, was broken into and the following stolen from the safe, which was opened by means of explosives : £l9 15s. 6d. in cash ; and a cheque, No. 034248, for £3, on the Union Bank of Australia, Wellington, in favour of “ Cash ” and signed “M. S. Meyer.” Cheque only identifiable. Foot-marks indicate that the offence was probably committed by two men and a woman.

Christchurch. During the night of 22nd August last the shop of A. S. PATTERSON'AND CO., LTD., Moorhouse Avenue, was broken into and the following stolen : Eighteen motor-car and truck tires; ten motor-cycle tires; ten motor-car tubes; seventy-two cycle tires (recovered); a 600/16 Duo heavy tread tire; a 650/20 Duo bus balloon tire ; two 600/16 super baloon tires (all branded “ Avon ; a 350/19 Supreme Avon motor-cycle tire ; a 550/19 motorcycle tire; an 815/105 motor-cycle tire ; three 525/21 motorcar tubes ; two 34/7 motor-truck tubes ; and the following Avon cycle tires : Two 28/lf Speedster; thirty-five 26/lf Ranger ; twenty 28/14 Spartan; ten 26/14 Ranger ; and a 28/1J Roadster: total value, £175 4s. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Two Men (names unknown)(l) Age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft. 8 in., strong build, dark complexion, brown hair ; dressed in grey trousers, leather lumber jacket, and grey shirt (no hat); and (2) age about twenty-three, height about 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fair complexion, dark hair; dressed in grey trousers, leather lumber jacket, and grey shirt (no hat). The recovered property was found in a private garage in Moorhouse Avenue which had been rented to the men described above, one of whom gave his name as J. S. Blair. They were in possession of a motor-cycle and side-car. . .Christchurch. —17th ultimo, from the King George Hotel, the property of JOHN MICHAEL COFFEY, licensee, five white single .woollen blankets: total value, £3 15s. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Thomas James Hunter, alias Frederick Collins, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 659, and Photographs, 1928, page 41. He is dressed in a navy-blue suit, leather overcoat, bowler hat, and wears horn-rimmed spectacles; talkative; Irish accent. A man stayed at complainant’s hotel during the night of 16th August last and left the following day after which it was discovered that the blankets had been stolen, and he later endeavoured to sell them to a second-hand dealer.
