APPREHENSIONS, PERSONS FOUND, ETC.

Devonport.Carl Albert Temm, deserting Navy, has been arrested by the Te Aroha police. He assumed the name C. A. Johnson. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 444.)

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). — Ernest Wherle, deserting ship, has been arrested by the National Park police. He assumed the name Ernest Gordon. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 269.)

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). William MacLeod, deserting ship, has been arrested by the Taranaki Street (Wellington) police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 405.)

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). — Charles Pegg, deserting ship, has been arrested by the Mount Cook police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 461.)

Auckland. — Lee On, alias Ah Louie, alias Ah Louey, default of fine and costs, has been arrested by the Auckland police. (See Police Gazette, 1937, page 315.)

Auckland. Nelson Ronald James, default of fine and costs, has paid the amount to the Auckland police. His correct name is Nelson Sydenham George Morey. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 55.)

Auckland. — Edward McFarland, alias Label McFariane, default of fine and costs, has been arrested by the Mount Eden police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 302.)

Auckland. William Charles Clements, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Rotorua police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 405.)

Auckland. — Joseph Sullivan, default of maintenance, has paid the arrears to the Paeroa police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 441.)

Hastings. — Sonny Thompson, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Bartletts police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 389.)

Palmerston North. — Robert George Gibson, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1938, page 446): The offences and sentences should read, “ indecent act (4 charges), 3 years’ probation ” and “ indecent act (1 charge), acquitted.”

Wellington. Grant, alias Francis John Peers, alias Snow, false pretences, has been arrested by the Tauranga police, and admits the offence. (See Police Gazette, 1938, pages 137 and 422.)

Kaikoura. William Gardiner Ross, alias Barney Ross, inquired for, has been interviewed by the Christchurch police, and admits the offence. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 120.)

Greymouth.— William Gardiner Ross, alias Barney Ross, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Rangiora police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 406.)

Christchurch. — Norman Karnbach, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Kanieri police. (See Police Gazette, 1937, page 720.)

Queenstown. — Frederick Hugh Miller, convicted, was burned to death in a fire at the Commercial Hotel, Waihi, on the 19th ultimo. (See Police Gazette, 1932, pages 60 and 257.)
