PROPERTY STOLEN.

Kaeo. On or about the 16th March last, the property of VERNON EDWARD INGLEBY MILLER, Kaitaia, a 22 ft. measuring instrument encased in a brass drum with leather strap attached, ‘ “ 1201 ” branded' and “ V.M.” scratched on brass drum; value, £lO. Identifiable. The measure was lost on the road.

Queen Street Whare (Auckland.) the 15th April last and Ist ultimo, from a room in the Sailors’ Home, the property of JOSEPH DAVIES, a 9 ct. gold double Albert open curb watch-chain, each link stamped, chain tapers towards each end, brass bar in centre, similar in description to illustration No. 24, in Police Gazette, 1911, page 2, gold medal in shape of shield attached : total value, £4. Identifiable.

Auckland. 2nd December, 1937, the property of ETHEL MELLING, Waterview House, Nelson Street, a gold ring, set with a large diamond in centre and two smaller diamonds on each side of it in claw setting with platinum tips ; value, £25. Auckland. 9th March last, from clothing in a basement of the Civic Theatre, Queen Street, the property of MAURICE VERNON HURFIT, 2c Valley Road, Mount Eden, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold square wristlet-watch, square second-hand dial, “ Shock Absorber ” on dial, black Aarbic numerals, top left corner of watch not square, dark-grey leather strap attached ; value, £3. Auckland.— February last, from a motor-car, the property of MAURICE PERCIVAL MUNRO, Willow Street, Tauranga, a light-brown leather case with shoulder straps attached, containing a pair of Brillen Schmidt binoculars with black' japanned leatherette casing, 41 in. by 4J in., right eye-piece has independent focus, “ Brillen Schmidt ” and “ Spezial Glas ” on back ends of main lenses, sides and a small sight are hinged ; value, £ls. Identifiable.

Auckland. 24th March last, the property of WILLIAM McCARTNEY DARLEY, 7 Liverpool Street, Epsom, a ladies’ gold keyless hunting Rotherhams watch, No. 54, repair No. 19541 scratched on inside case, “ M.J.” on back case, Roman numerals, heavy gold chain about 8 in. long with oval links attached, clip on one end, bar on other end : total value, £7. Identifiable. Complainant believes he lost the watch.

Auckland. —On the 9th or 10th ultimo, a shed at 177 Landscape Road, the property of HENRY ERNEST JOHNSON, was broken info and. the following stolen : A combined electriclight generator and petrol engine, generator is Blue Diamond Pioneer make of 110 volt alternating current and 6-8 volt direct current, driven by \ h.p. air-cooled Johnson Iron Horse petrol engine, fitted with kick start, engine and generator fitted on metal base and weigh about 472 Jb. : total value, £25. Identifiable. f fLjj Wl y Auckland. —Between the 28th December, 1937, and 25th February last, from the Glen Alvon Private Hotel, Waterloo Quadrant, the property of EILEEN BIERNACKI, proprietress, six pairs of silver-plated oblong teapots with hotwater jugs to match, 1J pint or 1| pint sizes, “ Walker and Hall ” on them; and a silver-plated round butter-dish about 5 in. in diameter, branded “Walker and Hall”: total value, £22. Identifiable.

Auckland. —19th January last, from a cubicle in the Tepid Bath, the property of ROY CUMMING, 84 Ladies’ Mile, Remuera, a ladies’ silver Swiss wristlet- watch, repair No. 4535 written inside case, Arabic gold numerals except 12 which is red, “ R.C.” scratched on back case, black leather strap attached; value, £l. Identifiable.

Auckland. — the 15th or 16th April last, from a room in the Royal Hotel, Victoria Street, the property of MAURICE HAYVICE, 518 Evans Bay Road, Wellington, a gentlemen’s 9 ct. gold open-face dress watch, Arabic numerals, slight dents in back case, purchased from Partridge and Co., Wellington ; and four tins of twenty Craven A cigarettes : total value, £ls ss. 4d. Watch only identifiable.

Auckland. Between the 30th April last and 2nd ultimo, from the shop of BOOTS LTD., 104 Queen Street, a Voigtlander camera about 7 in. by 6 in., view-finder on top, 6-3 lens ; value, £5 15s. Not identifiable.

Huntly.— 9th December last, from a house in course of construction in Bailey Street, the property of ALBERT GEORGE REGINALD ANDREWS, Tuakaußoad, Pukekohe, a set of bits ; an automatic drill for boring wood with set of drills, “X ” cut in top of drill, wrapped in canvas roll ; and a saw-set, pistol grip, “X” on one handle: total value, £2 11s. Identifiable except bits. Suspicion is attached to David Creamer, age about forty-eight, height 5 ft. 7 in., plumber, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion ; talkative ; frequents hotels. He was employed in the construction of the house, but left his employment shortly after the offence was committed.

Feilding. —Between the 4th and 6th ultimo, from the dwelling of NGAIRE GRETA ALLEN, 71 East Street, a ladies’ gold wristlet-watch with gold dial and figures, embossed design on rim, dent in top, gold expanding wrist-band ; value, £7. Identifiable.

Dunedin. Between the 25th and 30th April last, the dwelling of JAMES MAHONE THOMPSON, 152 Eglington Road, Morniugton, was broken into and the following stolen : A brown Russian squirrel fur coat with large cape collar, brown satin lining, “ Universal Fur Co., Wellington ” on tab, cuffs turned up, fit woman of small stature ; a suit about size 5, blue tweed with red and pale blue pin stripes, made by Crombie and Co., tailors, Octagon, Dunedin; a ladies’ brown morocco leather handbag, fold-over type ; a brown leather collar-box containing a dozen starched wingshaped collars, laundry mark “ A.A.” ; a set of blue woollen pyjamas; a brown leather wallet, “ J.T.” in gold letters on corner ; two grey working shirts and six dress shirts with stripes in white, blue, and brown, size 15 necks ; three gentlemen’s pink singlets and underpants : total value, £9l. Suspicion is attached to a Woman (name unknown), age about twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, pale long face. She was seen in the house during the absence of complainants on the 26th April last.

Wyndham. About the 2nd April last, from the farm of FREDRICK GEORGE HENRIKSEN, Two Creeks, Edendale, a three-year-old jet-black draught gelding, about thirteen or fourteen hands, four white legs, white face, long tail, unbroken and unshod ; value, £SO. Identifiable.
