Suspicion is attached to Esma Punch, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 4 in., waitress, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair complexion, blue eyes, straight nose, no upper teeth, heavy eyebrows, thick lips. Complainant, who shared a room with the suspect, went into hospital on the 3rd January last, and when she returned on the 20th she discovered that her watch has been stolen. Punch left the room on the 19th January.

Petone. —2sth November last, from the foundry at the Railway Workshops, Moera, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Railways Department), an A. V. DeVelvis spray-gun, Nos. 36 E. and A. 5608, size 7 in. by 6 in., weighs 4 lb., “ N.Z.R.” on it; value, £9 9s. Identifiable.

On the 23rd February last, the dwelling of STANLEY HERBERT DAWSON, 19 Bracken Street, was broken into and the following, the property of THOMSON, LEWIS, AND CO., stolen: A cheque, No. 156843, for £2 9s. 4d., drawn on the Bank of Australasia, Upper Hutt, by W. J. Goodwin and E. G. Goodwin, dated 18th February, 1938 ; a cheque, No. 682137, for £2 Is. Bd., drawn on the Commercial Bank of Australia by A. Jane O’Shea and Elsie Campbell, dated 3rd February, 1938 ; a cheque for £3 10s. (all cheques in favour of Thomson, Lewis, and Co.) ; and £49 2s. Bd. in money : total value, £57 3s. Bd. Wellington. 3oth April last, from a purse in a pavilion in the Hataitai Reserve, the property of ETHEL MURIEL DODD, 727 High Street, Lower Hutt, a ladies’ gold round open-face 15-jewel Cyma wristlet-watch, No. S. 2631, black Arabic numerals, gold-coloured dial, “ E.M.D. 6-12-37 ” on back, gold narrow mesh bracelet attached and fastens with push clip which is broken ; value, £8 3s. 6d. On the 17th April last, the dwelling of ALFRED ARTHUR TRUEMAN, 4 Clunny Road, Kelburn, was broken into and the following stolen: A gentlemen’s nickel keyless Omega pocket watch, case No. 6100887, movement No. 4780637, Arabic numerals, second-hand missing; two small post-office, money-boxes, pillar type, containing 5Jd.; and a small nickel torch : total value, £3 17s. 5Jd.
