Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). — On the 24th or 25th December last, from the canteen in the Seamen’s Institute, Sturdee Street, the property of BRENDAN CHRISTOPHER O’NEILL, 65 Oxford Street, Lyttelton, a Francesco piano accordion of dark-blue colour with mother-of-pearl and flower design, forty-eight bass keys, thirty-four piano keys, “ 565 ” in punch-marks on it, and in blue fibre cane case; value, £27 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. 4th December last, from clothing in a dressingshed at Eden Park, the property of LEO PATRICK SCHOLLUM, 171 Grafton Road, a gentlemen’s gold-filled open-face thin dress pocket watch, gilt Arabic numerals, “ Chronometer Wyler ” on dial, “ L.P.S. 12/9/37 ” on back ; a 9 ct. gold single thin dress chain, about 8 in. long, small links; and £2 15s. in money : total value, £ll 15s. Identifiable except money.

Morrinsville. During the night of 25th December last the shop of ALEXANDER COLLINS, Thames Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A nickel-plated old model National cash register, 30 in. by 20 in., iron casing, containing about I2s. in silver : total value, £3O 12s. Te Kuiti. l4th November last, the property of RICHARD BELL, Taumarunui Street, Taumarunui, three Firestone motor-car tires and tubes, 5 by 25 by 21 ; an oil-gauge of a 1924 model Dodge motor-car, may have “ Dodge” on it; an amp-meter, may have “ Dodge ” on it; a two-gallon benzine tin, may have “P. Readoll ” on it; 'two tire levers ; three Crescent shifting spanners ; and a in. set spanner, about 9 in. long : total value, £l7. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), age about twentyeight, height 5 ft. 9 in., fair complexion ; a European. Complainant’s motor-car developed engine trouble on the Awakino Road about six miles from Te Kuiti, and he was given a. lift in suspect’s motor-car which was a light-grey 1937 model two-seater V 8 Ford, fitted with semi-balloon tires, the first two figures of the registration number being 48. Suspect saw complainant hiding the above mentioned property in a clump of gorse near to where the disabled car was parked, and he remarked that he “ would not mind pinching the benzine tin.” After dropping complainant suspect returned in the direction of the parked car.

Waitara. Bth. December last, from a bedroom in the Waitara Hotel, the property of ALBANY NATHAN, housemaid, a ladies’ silver wristlet-watch with black dial and hands, “ Barney Brown, 1936 ” engraved on back case, and a small green leather purse : total value, £2 2s. 6d. Suspicion is attached to Pam Francis, alias Pam FrancSiteme, age about twenty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in.,' housemaid, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, fair fuzzy hair. She booked in to the Waitara Hotel on the 7th December, and complainant who was employed at the hotel, took her out and showed her the town. Next day the watch was stolen, and the Stratford. 4th ultimo, from a dressing-shed in the swimming-baths, the property of AILSA AITKEN, Swansea Road, a ladies’ silver round Swiss wristlet-watch, Arabic numerals, “ A.A.” scratched on back, black ribbon band which fastens with silver clasp attached; value, £1 ss. Identifiable.

Napier. 3rd ultimo, from a dwelling at 73 Charles Street, Westshore, the property of ALASTAIR OGILVIE WALLACE, 37 Panama Street, Wellington, a black calfskin wallet, size 6 in. by 4 in., containing six Reserve Bank £1 notes and two Bank of England £1 notes; a chequebook on the Bank of New South Wales, Wellington, No. A. 362641 to A. 362670, containing blank cheque-forms, No. A. 362662 to A. 362670; a radio license ; a certificate of registration for a -22 calibre Winchester rifle, and a warrant of fitness for motor-car, registration No. 20,571 (all in complainant’s name) : total value, £lO. Identifiable except money.

Waipawa. On the 20th or 21st December last, from a railway bridge in the course of construction over the Waipawa River, the property of M. G. TEMPLETON, contractor, two timber-jacks, Nos. 19225 and 19229 respectively, made by Price, Thames, one has a flaw at bottom of left side of stock ; and a crowbar about 66 in. long, made of 1/ in. hexagon steel, diamond-shaped point at one end, chisel point with heel at other end: total value, £22 Bs. 6d. Taihape.— On the 25th or 26th December last, the property of MELVIN HARRY GOODIN, 34 Beach Street, Petone, a gentlemen’s silver round 15-jewel Swiss wristlet-watch, No. 81220, leather strap attached; value, £4. Identifiable. Complainant lost the watch.

Waitotara. the 29th December last and 7th ultimo, from the dwelling of KATHLEEN HANDLEY, Nukumara, a ladies’ chromium-plated Eclipse wristlet-watch, No. D 694 on inside case, Arabic numerals, black wrist-band attached ; value, £2 2s. 6d. Identifiable.

Masterton. — On the 31st ultimo, the shop of the WAIRARAPA FARMERS’ CO-OPERATIVE ASSOCIATION, LTD., Carterton, was broken into and the following stolen: Seven navy serge suits, sizes 34 to 41, “Broadway” or “ Wairarapa Farmers ” on them ; five navy Fox serge suits, sizes 35 to 40, “ Broadway ” or “ Wairarapa Farmers ” on them; four Mosgiel brown tweed suits with stripes; a Roslyn brown worsted suit with pin stripes, size 37; three brown striped worsted suits and one grey striped worsted suit, sizes 3,2, and 6 ; seven or eight light weight worsted suits of brown, navy, and grey colours, with fine fancy stripes, sizes 34 to 38, “ Marathon ” on them; a mid-grey striped worsted suit, size 6 or 7 ; two worsted suits with fancy navy stripes, sizes 3 and 6 ; twenty pairs of navy, brown, and grey fancy worsted trousers, size 5; twelve pairs of grey sports trousers, sizes 3, 4 and 5 ; six gentlemen’s doublebreasted brown and grey overcoats, size 5 ; five gentlemen’s sports coats and blazers, size 3 ; four brown fibre suit-cases
