New Plymouth.—lst ultimo, from a motor-car in Devon Street, the property of SYDNEY EBBETT, 609 Charles Street, Hastings, a pair of black binoculars with brass showing on edges, adjustable by centre screw only, three small crosses filed in metal near adjusting screw, and three marks also near screw ; value, £22. Identifiable.

Napier. —l3th ultimo, from Station Street, the property of MURIEL ISOBEL PEDDIE, 202 King Street, Hastings, a 1935 model 8 h.p. Morris roadster motor-car, painted red with black mudguards, glass sidescreen on left side, engine No. 6028, chassis No. 9440, registration No. 105 y 083; value, £l6O. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to —. Lewis, age about thirty, height about 6 ft., medium build, fair complexion, flaxen-coloured hair; usually dressed in a brownishfawn sports suit and grey felt hat. A man who stayed at the Hotel Cecil, Wellington, under the name of Lewis was in possession of the stolen car. He left on 22nd ultimo without paying his board, and he took the car with him. As all vehicles have to be re-registered at the end of the present month the assistance of registration officers to recover the car should be solicited.

Marton. —Between the 26th January last and 18th March, from the dwelling of HILARY LEMPRIERE GRUT, 116 Broadway, a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold ring, which is out of shape, square plate on top set with an oval bluish milkycoloured moonstone, two twisted strands of wire between two strands of straight wire down each side of ring, “ From Mother to Hilary, 1915 ”on inside ; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold broad band ring, set with deep red stone on top of which is a gold star with a small diamond set in it ; a gold ring made from three half-sovereigns with centres cut out, joined with hinge, outside ones form clasped hands, and inside one which opens and shuts is in design of united hearts; and a ladies’ small gold signet ring, with “G” on it: total value, £2l. Identifiable.

Marton.Between the 13th and 20th March last, from a stable at Heaton Park, the property of EDWARD HAMISH SIMPSON, an old English heavy saddle with new panels in flaps, small knee-pads; a New Zealand make saddle with “ Rangitira ” on flaps, roll knee-pads, with wool-webb girth, newly lined and stuffed ; a medium-sized old stock saddle, newly lined ; an English hunting bridle with snaffle bit ; and two Japonica leather bridles : total value, £l7. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. On the] 11th or 12th March last, from the office of Fearnley’s Private Hotel, the property of KARL KARMARK, a pair of boots (recovered); a pair of dark-grey tweed trousers, size 5 ; a pair of light-grey fulllength underpants; a light-brown cap, size 6J ; a brown tweed waistcoat; a yellow cotton and wool singlet; and a pair of hand-knitted sox : total value, £3 Is. 6d. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to J. ROSS (name probably fictitious), age about fifty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., farm labourer, slight build, fresh complexion, grey hair; dressed in a grey suit coat and dark trousers, black boots, and cap. The boots were recovered from a second-hand dealer to whom they had been sold for 7s. Gd. by a man of suspect’s description. The following described man had previously offered the boots for sale and was in suspect’s company when they were sold : Age about forty, height about 6 ft. 2 in., stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair, pitted face; dressed in an old darkgreen tweed overcoat which had been repaired in front, streamlined tan shoes, and felt hat with straight rim.

Wellington.— sth instant from Majoribanks Street, the property of ERNEST KEY VAR, 156 Onepu Road, a darkgreen Chrysler roadster motor-car, artillery wheels, engine No. F. 85915, chassis No. S. W. 370 R., registration No. 151 V 555, value, £SO. Wentifeble^^^^

Otira. —Between the 24th and 28th March last, from a tent at Bealey, the property of HERBERT HAROLD JEWELL, thirty packets of -303 cartridges, each packet containing ten cartridges: total value, £1 17s. 6d. Identification doubtful.

Methven. —On the 20th or 21st ultimo, from the yard of Springburn Railway-station, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Railways Department), two black canvas tarpaulins, about 19 ft. 3 in. by lift.
