SPECIAL NOTICE.
Concealment of Birth. Auckland.-— On the 25th ultimo, the dead body of a recently born female child of apparently seven months gestation, was found in a one-gallon paint tin washed up on the beach at Kohimarama. The tin had contained brown paint, and two bean-seeds of the scarlet runner variety were found in it. A piece of 2-ply clothes-line was found tied to the handle evidently to keep the lid in position. A post-mortem examination revealed that the child had not breathed, and that there were no injuries to the skull or body. The afterbirth was adhering to the body, suggesting a violent confinement. The appearance of the remains suggests European origin. If any information is obtained that would assist to establish the identity of the mother it is to be forwarded to the Superintendent of Police. Auckland.
