Thames. 2sth May last, that he may be interviewed regarding his having obtained credit by fraud, Raymond Strong, age forty, height 5 ft. 6J in., labourer and cook, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes' right middle finger-joint enlarged, mole above right breast, tip of right forefinger injured. Accused engaged Frank Thomas Fraider, taxi-driver, Rolleston Street, to drive him from Thames to Te Aroha for £2. 10s., stating that he owned the tea-rooms at the latter place, and would pay on arrival. On reaching Te Aroha he went away to get the money, but returned saying the family was away and the place locked up. Inquiries have revealed that the tea-rooms were conducted by accused’s wife from whom he was separated, and that he had not been there for three years. No warrant. Hamilton. — 18th ultimo, that he may be interviewed for alleged assault on Beverley Bindon, age three years, 1 Liverpool Street, Man (name unknown), age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair, prominent nose, foreign appearance, thick hair brushed back from forehead ; wearing brown clothes, trousers darker than coat, pullover or waistcoat, and sand-shoes with brown facings ; in possession of a cream-coloured bicycle with chocolate facings, design like diamond above front forks, appearance of a racing bicycle. Accused took the above-mentioned child to the Waikato River bank from where she ran away crying. She was not interfered with physically, and cannot give an account of what happened, except that he took her to the bank of the river. Mo warrant. He is touring with Baden Prentice in a Stutz tourer motor-car, No. X 26,355, fitted with a benzine eliminator, which he is demonstrating. There are other similar charges pending. Taumarunui. —lsth May last, on two warrants of commitment to Wanganui Prison for ten days and seven days in default of paying £4 10s. fines and costs for negligently driving a motor-car and driving without a license, George Thomas McGovern, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. lOJin., labourer and freezing-works hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, scar on left instep. McGarry, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in., cook, medium build, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; well-spoken; smart appearance. Accused, who was conducting a cookhouse at National Park, undertook to sell on commission tobacco for complainant, but he disappeared on the 24th April last, leaving behind some of the tobacco supplied, value 11s. 7d., and failing to account for the balance.

Waimate. —James Ogfea Alexander/ wanted for false pretences, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 344 : The accused’s photograph has been identified as that of a man who is suspected of stealing a cheque-book on the Bank of New Zealand, Christchurch, containing thirty-four forms, numbered between 8430041 and 8430100, the property of Wilfred Henry Woodham, 808 Colombo Street, Christchurch. On the 7th instant, the suspect and William Green called at Woodham’s house, and were alone in the room where the cheque-book was kept. On the following day one of the stolen cheques was made out for £l2, and issued to E. J. Adcock, High Street, Christchurch, from whom £3 was obtained ; the cheque was'signed W. H. Rossiter. Alexander’s photograph has been identified as the person who presented the cheque. On the same day goods, value £4 ss. 6d., were obtained from A. McLeod, mercer, Manchester Street, Christchurch, by means of one of the stolen cheques. Alexander is now believed to be travelling with Green, and has spoken of visiting North Island towns doing renovating work to brass name-plates and then proceeding to Australia. On the 3rd instant he was arrested by the Nightcaps police, but on the way to Invercargill Police-station he escaped from the constable. He was dressed in a brown suit and brown felt hat, brown boots, blue collar, and grey tie : left middle finger-j oint stiff; may be wearing a greenish-grey tweed single-breasted Roslyn overcoat with grey silk lining, value £l, which was stolen from Alfred Tulley, 300 Conon Street. He was in possession of an unemployment levy-book in the name Harold Joseph ROSS, 34 Gloucester Street, Christchurch. There are other charges pending.
