Auckland.— 7th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three days in default of paying £1 15s. fine and costs for failing to submit her wages and time book for inspection by an Inspector under the Shops and Offices Act, Margaret Toomey, age about thirty-five, medium height, tea-room proprietress, slight build, fair complexion, long hair; usually wears an old-fashioned dress ; apparently slightly mentally weak.

Auckland. —9th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Walter Frank Goodall, alias Delaney, alias Hodge, age thirtyfive, height 5 ft. 5-| in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair, hazel eyes, ears deformed, scar at corner of right eye; dressed in a darkbrown tweed suit, fawn felt hat, and tan shoes. Accused obtained £8 15s. from Garfield Howard Townsend, grocer, 90 Mount Eden Road, by means of a valueless cheque for £lO 7s. 6d., signed “ W. F. Letts,” which he tendered in payment of an account for £1 12s. fid. He may be in possession of a cheque-book on the Union Bank of Australia, Auckland, Nos. 33091-33120. He travels about in a Rugby half-ton motor-truck, registration No. L. 14-882,’and he represents an agency in Gisborne.

New Plymouth. ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, F. Thomas, alias John Cyril McMahon, age about twenty-six, height about 5 ft. 6 in., canvasser, native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, fair hair, lightbrown eyes, scar on right knee and calf ; dressed in a blue serge suit and grey or fawn felt hat. Accused obtained goods, value £3 17s. 6d., and a cheque for £7 155., from J. B. Mac Ewan and Co., dairy specialists, King Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £ll 12s. 6d. Accused, who was employed on Mr. Hume’s farm, stole the above-mentioned property from complainant, who was also employed on the farm. Reefton. — 31st January last, on warrant for sending a false telegram, William Patrick O’Donnell, referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 71, and Photographs, 1926, page 81. On the 31st January last, accused handed in at the Reefton Post-office, for delivery to Himself at the Criterion Hotel, a telegram worded Criterion Hotel, Reefton, sending ten Ppmyrrtfw passing through W.
