INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.
Melbourne (Australia). —Warrants have been issued for the arrest of the persons mentioned hereunder, charging them with on the Ist instant escaping from lawful custody whilst being conveyed from the Court to Pentridge Prison Hilton John Barkley, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 10f in., native of Australia, medium build, brown hair, blue eyes, large scar on centre of forehead ; well dressed in a blue twill suit, with large rolled lapels, and dark-brown hat ; well spoken with soft speech. He was undergoing sentences aggregating seven years; and (2) William Howard, age twenty-four, height 6 ft. 8£ in., native of Australia, medium build, brown hair, blue eyes; dressed in a blue twill suit and grey felt hat. He was undergoing sentences aggregating three years. Arrest and extradition of both are desired. (See Victoria Police Gazette, 1933, page 127.)
