Whangarei. RUBY MILNE’S ring, &c., stolen : The photograph of Alexander Wallace Copley, referred to in Police Gazette, 1922, page 99, has been identified as that of a man who was in the lounge-room of the Commercial Hotel when the offence was committed. He is therefore to he interviewed regarding the offence. (See Police Gazette, 1931, page 197.) /J

Auckland. —Between the 19th and 20th ultimo the dwelling of ALEXANDER BROWN, 21 Mcwburn Avenue, was broken into and the following stolen : A pair of gentlemen’s black Bostock shoes, size 8; a -plated two-cell torch; a gentlemen’s silver hunting Rotherhams watch with “A. Brown ” engraved on inside of back case; and a silver curb watch-chain: total value, £5 18s. (id. Identifiable.

Auckland. Between the 11th and 13th January last, from the service-station of STUART BROS., 234 Great South Road, a cheque for £3 on the Bank of Australasia, Auckland, No. 470154, drawn by J. Wood on the 9th January, 1931 ; a cheque for £8 16s. 9d. on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, No. P. 957351, drawn by Trucks Ltd. in favour of E. Coe, dated Bth January, 1931 ; a cheque for £2 10s. 9d. on the Union Bank of Australia, Auckland, No. 15260, drawn by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency in favour of Norman Milne, dated 10th December, 1930 and £3l ss. 6d. in money. Cheques only identifiable.

HERROLD, Waiuku, a green leather handbag, size about 12 in. by 6 in., with two compartments, containing a pair of gold earrings studded with seed pearls, a gold pendant studded with seed pearls, a cigarette-case, and 3s. in money ; total value, £lO. Between the 22nd December and 28th February last the dwelling of MARY ANN BRADY, 13 Cotter Avenue, was broken into and the following stolen : A ladies’ gold wristlet watch with expanding wristlet attached, may have a Gisborne firm’s name on dial; a gentlemen’s plain gold ring with “ D.E.8.” engraved on it; two old gold Granny chains ; a pair of gold earrings ; a pair of gold sleeve-links ; a pair of ivory sleeve-links; and a ladies’ old silver watchchain with tassels on each end : total value, £29. Identifiable.

. Pukekohe. GEOßGE AH ARK’S dwelling broken into : Alfred Arthur Gurney, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 15, has been arrested for the offence by the Auckland police. None of the stolen property has been recovered. (See Police Gazette, 1931, pages 180 and 197.)

Waihi. —On the 27th ultimo the Salvation Army Hall, Seddon Street, the property of the SALVATION ARMY, was broken into and the following stolen : A silver E flat soprano cornet with 1 ‘ Salvation Army, London,” stamped on it, dent on stem opposite middle valve, no mouth-piece ; a benzine lamp-pump ; a spanner ; a pipe -wrench ; and a whistle : total value, £6 ss. Katikati.Between the 10th and 17th ultimo, the property of HARRY STEWART, boardinghouse-keeper, a white drill shirt with black stripes in it; two pairs of cream fugi silk pyjamas ; two white cotton singlets ; and a brown fibre suit-case, size about 18 in. by 20 in., lid torn at one corner : total value, £3 13s. 6d. Suit-case only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to William Patrick Brophy, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 228, and Photographs. 1926, page 81. The suspect obtained accommodation at complainant’s boardinghouse, and after lie quit the house the property was missed.

Gisborne.— the night of the 11th instant the shop of D. McKEAGUE AND CO., Gladstone Road, were broken into and the following stolen : A quantity of Three Castles, Ardath, and Players cigarettes, a pink xylonite bedroom clock, and a Valet safety -razor outfit; total value, £ll. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Joseph Scott, referred to in Police Gazette, 1929, page 3. He has assumed the name Richards, and displays a medal which he says he won at Palmerston North for boxing. He was accompanied by a Man (name unknown), age twenty, height 5 ft. 6 in., thin build, fair hair ; wearing a blue coat and grey flannel trousers (no hat).

Hawera. —15th instant, from a cloak-room in the Winter Show Buildings, the property of JOHN FRED NEWSOME, 5 Dunkerron Avenue, Auckland, a gentlemen’s dark-tan leather overcoat, two flaws in right sleeve, leather belt with silver buckle, four buttons on front, lined with rough brown material with purple stripe in it; value, £ll 11s. Identifiable.

Upper Hutt. —On the 17th ultimo the dwelling of KATE McKELVIE, Wilfred Street, Wallacevillc, was broken into and the following stolen : A Rhinestone necklace in silver mounting, clasp broken; a string-of black beads; a string of pearls ; six stainless table-knives with “ Osborne, Upper Hutt,” branded on them ; a plain gold bangle with safety chain attached, initials (not known) engraved on it; a pair of gold-rim spectacles ; and two bunches of keys : total value, £7. Identifiable.

Wellington. —Between the 6th and 9th ultimo, from 27 Brougham Street, the property of ETHEL MAY BLACK, a ladies’ 9 ct. gold Swiss wristlet watch, No. 48778, 15 jewels, “E.M.8.” engraved on case, with gold expanding wristlet attached ; value, £ls. Identifiable.

Wellington. —On the night of the 30th ultimo the dwelling of STANLEY DRYMAN -PAUL, 34 Wellington Road, was broken into and the following stolen : A gentlemen’s black watered-silk dressing-gown with “ S.D.P.” worked in red on left breast-pocket, may have “ C. A. Hunt, Sydney,” on collar; a cream crepe de Chine shirt with black stripes in it, tags on back of neck with “ S.D.P.” and “ Farmer, Sydney,” on them; a cream crepe de Chine shirt with blue stripes in it, similar marks on tags'; three cream silk tennis-shirts, size 5 in. collar, with “S. Paul in marking-ink on neck; a gentlemen’s navy-blue suit with light-blue stripes in it, doublebreasted coat, “ F. W. Bedford” on tag on neck ; a quantity of gentlemen’s underclothing with “S. Paul on them ;• a pair of black patent-leather shoes, size 7 ; and a pair of gentlemen’s black glace-kid shoes, size 7 : total value, £59 16s. Portion identifiable.

Suspicion is attached to J-GWiS (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-six, height 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, fair complexion and hair ; scar on middle finger of one hand, small lump on back of neck wearing a light-coloured suit, black bow tie, and grey felt hat: quiet manner ; smart appearance.

Nelson.27th ultimo, from the Central Hotel, the property of MARGARET WINIFRED DELANEY, 97a Riddiford Street,. Wellington, a suit-case and contents (recovered), and a ladies’ blue and orange silk dressing-gown; total value, £32 15s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to —— Lewis , (name probably fictitious). The suit-case was stolen from” the Central Hotel, and r as subsequently found in a room at Naumai Boardinghouse which had been occupied by the suspect. Suspicion is attached to James Sullivan, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion and hair, brown eyes ; wearing a brown suit with thin stripe and light felt hat with maker’s name and Napier address in it. The suspect shared a room with complainant, and after he left the property was missing.

Christchurch. — the 2nd and 3rd February last, from a room in the Zetland Hotel, the property of JAMES FALKINDER, Ataahau, little River, a gentlemen’s silver hunting-watch, black hands, glass broken ; a gold heavy curb watch-chain with greenstone pendant attached; and £2 in money : total value, £lO. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Jim Kane, ago about thirty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., barman and porter, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, small hole in right side of forehead ; wearing a slate-grey or blue suit, soft collar, dark tie, and grey felt hat.
