SPECIAL NOTICE.
Auckland. —On the 26th ultimo Samuel Henderson, jockey, Ellerslie, and Mrs. Henderson were returning from Te Kuiti races in their motor-car, which also contained George Albert Holland, Eric Manson, and Leonard Manson, jockeys. When passing Westfield about midnight they were held up by two masked men who were armed with revolvers. With firearms presented they forced Henderson and the others to place their money in the car and vacate it. They then drove off in Henderson’s car, and when near Penrose Railway-station were overtaken by men on a motorbicycle who had given chase. Abandoning Henderson’s car and all the stolen property, they drove away in a blue small sedan motor-car, discharging a revolver-shot at their pursuers,
who were compelled to discontinue the chase owing to a punctured tire. Description of accused: (1) Age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 10 in., slight build, American accent; dressed in a tight-fitting dark suit (no hat) : and (2) age about twenty-six, height about 5 ft. 7 in., slight build ; dressed in a tight-fitting dark suit (no hat). They may be in possession of the following described motor-car, which was stolen on the night of the 26th ultimo from the garage of William Whittaker, 94 Wheturangi Road, Ellerslie : A five-seater Morris Cowley blue sedan, registered No. 24579, engine No. 246259, chassis No. 223035. Special efforts are to be made to trace these men, and if any information is obtained regarding them a communication is to be sent, to the Superintendent of Police, Auckland. / Q,J / % /
