Auckland. — 29th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £3 4s. fine and costs for hawking without a license, George Edward Robertson, alias John Robinson, age forty-tw'o, height 5 ft. 51 in., hawker, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, grey eyes, scars on left fore and little fingers, right little finger contracted ; fond of drink. Auckland. —27th May last, on warrant for being a child not under proper control, Mavis Fitton, age fifteen (looks eighteen), height 5 ft. 4 in., waitress, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair and eyes, scar on right side of throat ; may be dressed in an orangecoloured dress with black buttons down front and on side of sleeves, small black-velvet hat, brown overcoat with butterfly buckles on front, and suede shoes ; fond of dancing. ‘ c S-8-ZS-.

Auckland. 22nd February last, for being an idle and disorderly person (having insufficient means), John Newald, age thirty -two, height 5 ft. 1\ in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes. On the 2nd March last he was convicted for above offence and ordered to come up if called on. He has failed to report to the Probation Officer, and he is to be brought up for sentence on the original charge. (See Police Oazette, 1925, pastel 72.) / S Y / 7 O .

.Auckland. 24th ultimo, for theft of tools (recovered), value £4, the property of Frederick Potter, carpenter, 16a Bracken Avenue, Epsom, William Bell (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 11 in., carpenter, medium build, fresh complexion, brown eyes, small brown moustache, wearing a fawn overcoat and dark-brown-felt bat ; speaks softly. The above is the description of the man who sold the tools in a second-hand shop for 12s. Cd. No warrant.

Hamilton. —18th instant, on warrant for false pretences, E. Brown (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 8 in., slight build ; well dressed probably in a grey suit and light-grey soft-felt hat, and carries a briefbag. Accused obtained £3 from George Archibald Green, proprietor, Imperial Tea-rooms, Victoria Street, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount. He is believed to be identical with Lionel Edward Senior, referred to in Police Gazette, 1925, page 412, and he may be in possession of a cheque-book on the Bank of New Zealand, Hamilton* Nos. 0390153-390176. Whakatane. —20th April last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £6 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Dorothy Kathleen Byrne, Walter Howard Byrne, alias Walter Howard, age thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., butcher, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, scar on one lip and on right leg ; usually dressed in a dark suit and soft-felt, hat; fond of billiards, horse-racing, boxing, and drink. Arai>uni. —l7th instant, on warrant for theft of cookingutensils and groceries, value £2O, the property of Henderson, Deyell, and Logan, contractors, Patrick O’Brien, age about forty, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer and cook, native of .New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, large brown eyes, Roman nose, no front teeth ; dressed in a dark-grey-tweed suit. He may be identical with Patrick Thomas O’Brien, referred to in Police Gazette, 1922, page 416. Accused, who was employed as cook at the Arapuni Camp, stole the property and sold it to Jack Nobilo for £2O.

Stratford.— 20th instant, that a summons for failing to render personal service under the Defence Act, may he served upon him, Frank McPhee, age nineteen (looks older), height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, clean-shaved, slightly stooped, gold teeth in front ; usually well dressed, and wears high-heeled shoes ; a heavy cigarette - smoker ; suffers from asthma ; frequents billiard-saloons ; good appearance, / 16 fQ! ~> •

Napier. —6th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, The mgs Fcgerly, age twenty-two, height about 5 ft,. 8 in., slaughterman, native of New Zealand, build, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, decayed front teeth, scar on right hand; dressed in o navy-blue suit and light-felt hat, and usually walks with his hands behind his back. Complainant, Mary Elizabeth Bulled, domestic, Meeanee.

Wanganui. — 26th May last, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Elsie Sylvia Rush, domestic, 14 Murray Street, is the mother, Tony Pavick,. age about thirty, height 6 ft., labourer and contractor, native of Dalmatia, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes, broad face ; usually well dressed ; fond of horse-racing, and is said to own the racehorse “ Arsen Lupin.” do, 9 '

Accused altered from 2s. 9d. to £lO 2s. 9d. a moneyorder issued at Greymouth on the 26th March last in favour of Mrs. Bennett, Nelson, and uttered it to James Leslie Wylie, manager, Hallenstein Bros., Lambton Quay, in payment for a light-grey overcoat and two collars, value £7 9s. 6d.

Christchurch.— H. Hepburn, alms Harold Conway, forgery and uttering : It has been agbegjtained by the Christchurch police that offender is idyptutd Harold S. Christchurch —On or about 24th November last, on warrant for theft of a. bicycle-saddle, and handle-bars (recovered), value £1 12s. (id., Leslie Burt, age sixteen, height 5 ft. 2 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes ; usually dressed in dark clothing and cap ; quiet manner, lie was interviewed by the Christchurch police and admitted the theft, but subsequently disappeared. Dunedin. —Ist instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Emma Golding, Albert Golding, age fifty, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of England, stout build, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved, cast in one eye ; usually dressed in dark clothes. Arrears to 7th May last, £23. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s office, Dunedin.

Dunedin.l7th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Frank Gorton (name probably fictitious), age about thirtyseven, height about 5 ft. 9 in., stout build, fresh complexion, fair curly hair brushed back, clean-shaved, square features; dressed in a grey suit, grey-tweed overcoat, light-coloured soft-felt hat, and tan shoes with pointed toes. Accused obtained £l5O from John George Wregglesworth, labourer, 205 Cargill Road, South Dunedin, by falsely representing that he was conducting a business for the manufacture of woollen dusters and desired a partner. He previously obtained money at Christchurch and Auckland by similar fraudulent means.
