Waipu. 2lst September last, that a distress warrant for £5 costs of appeal in case Hoggard v. Boag may be executed upon his effects, Iris Mark Hoggard, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 5} in., gum-digger, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, curly light-brown hair, grey eyes, pointed nose, mole on right cheek. He appealed against his conviction referred to in Police Gazette, 1924, page 501, but the appeal was dismissed, and he was ordered to pay costs. Auckland. —loth ultimo, on warrant for driving in Khyber Pass Road a motor-car at a speed dangerous to the public, John Storrie, age about fifty, height 5 ft. 11 in., chauffeur, native of Scotland, good build, fair complexion, fair hair going grey, blue eyes ; dressed in a grey-and-black-tweed suit, felt hat, and nigger-brown shoes ; erect gait; fond of drink. On above date accused, who was driving a motor-car, No. A 13140, in Khyber Pass Road, knocked down and injured William Pearson, tramway employee. Auckland. —27th ultimo, for unlawfully using a motor-car (recovered), the property of Roy Furness, merchant, 28 Bassett Road, Remuera, Two Men (names unknown) —(1) age about twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 11 in., slight build, dark complexion, fair hair; dressed in a blue-serge suit and dark-felt hat : and (2) age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., slight build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair; dressed in a dark suit and dark-felt hat. The accused drove the car from Commerce Street, City, to Onehunga, where they abandoned it. No warrants.

Auckland. —On or about the 20th June last, on warrant for theft of £8 165., the property of Charles Wilson Cumming, master mariner, 11 Henley Street, Frederick William Millis, age about twenty height about 5 ft. 6 in., engineer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair going bald, blue eyes ; dressed in a dark suit and grey-felt hat. Complainant gave the accused the money to buy some electrical fittings, and he has disappeared. He is probably identical with Frederick Schiuter, alias Frederick William Sluter, alias Frederick William Wells, alias F. W. Slater, referred to in Police gazette' 1920,/nage 581, and Photographs, 23 f * Auckland. 27th ultimo, for unlawfully using a motor-car (recovered), the property of Beaumont Shaw, clerk, 2 St. Mark’s Road, Remuera, Man (name unknown), age twentyfive, height sft. 6in., medium build, clean-shaved; dressed in a blue-serge suit and light-felt hat. Accused drove the car from West Street to New North Road, where he abandoned it. No warrant.

' Auckland. —16th ultimo, on warrant for theft of £4, the property of Charles Vernon, tailor, Wellesley Street, Sydney Gordon Billows, alias Jones, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., traveller, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair, blue-grey eyes, scar on right hip, forearm, and forefinger, and on left ear ; usually wears a cap. Accused, who was employed by complainant to travel for orders for suits, received from Wong On £4 as a deposit on a suit, has failed to account for it to his employer, and disappeared. In Shore Road accused wilfully committed the offence within the view of Lucy Jenkins, 83 Bassett Road, Remuera, and others. No warrant. -

Hamilton. Bth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Lawrence Gronn, age about twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 9 in., road foreman, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark-tanned complexion, black hair, brown eyes, bushy eyebrows, clean-shaved ; dressed in a brown or blue-serge suit, light-felt hat, and tan boots ; erect gait; fond of drink. He may have gone to Australia, and may be accompanied by Mille Durrant, age twenty, height 5 ft. 4 in., slight build, curly black hair, brown eyes ; dressed in a navy-blue costume, long blanket overcoat, small pink hat with pink streamers, and wears glasses. Kihikihi. — July last, on warrant for false pretences, Cecil Elliott, age about thirty-seven, height about 5 ft. 9 in., ploughman, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in dark-green ridingbreeches, tan boots and leggings, and brown coat, vest, and cap; plausible manner; good appearance. Accused obtained goods, value £5 Os. 6d., from Laura McFlinn, draper, by falsely representing that he was working for Messrs. Perham, Larsen, and Co., Wharepuhunga, whereas in fact he had left their employ the previous day. - - Opotiki. —Bth instant, that he may be compelled to maintain his illegitimate child, Jean Elizabeth Benny, an inmate of Napier Receiving Home, Vivian James Crosswell, age twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved. He may be found in company with Joe Tabb, age about forty-five, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and contractor, ginger hair and moustache. Arrears to 27th ultimo, £22. Opotiki. —3oth July last, that a summons for failing to attend drill may be served upon him, Billie Clay, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and shearer, native of New Zealand, medium build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes ; a three-quarter caste Maori.

Otorohanoa. — loth instant, on warrant for assault with intent to commit rape, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-six, height about 5 ft. 10 in., slight build, fair complexion, full forehead, long face, square chin, clean-shaved ; wearing grey trousers and light-coloured woollen cap ; husky voice. About 7.30 p.m. whilst Louisa Foster Wheeler, married, Te Kuiti Road, was attending to some rabbit-traps on her farm, accused who came from the railway-line pursued her, threw her down, and attempted to commit rape.

Te Kuiti. —27th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £5 13s. fine and costs for trespass on Te Rapa Racecourse, Bertram John Batchelor, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and carpenter, native of Tasmania, strong build, swarthy complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, scar below left knee ; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit and grey cap, and limps slightly. He is also wanted on another warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month for illegally keeping liquor for sale. (See Police Gazette, 1924, page 557.)

Accused forged the signature “ G Lawrence ” to a cheque for £5, and uttered it to James N. West, licensee, Brown’s Hotel, who cashed it. He is believed to be identical with James Duncan, alias John Duncan, alias James Harris, referred to in Police Gazette, 1923, page 374, and Photographs, 1914, page 13.
