Wellington.— NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Postal Department) mail-bag stolen : It has been ascertained that the following were also contained in the bag : A registered packet, No. 778, addressed “ Kenner’s, 141 Manners Street, Wellington,” containing a £5 note, a £1 note, a 10s. note, a postal note for 25., No. 744987, and a postal note for 55., No. 048891, issued at Carterton and sent by Mrs. M. Parlies, Dalefield, Carterton ; a registered letter, No. 780, addressed Clerk of Court, Palmerston North, containing a £1 note, sent by T. H. Foster, Clifton Avenue, Carterton; a registered packet, No. 779, addressed Mrs. W. Scadden, Fox ton,” containing a small metal case about the size of a watch with a glass face, red-plush lines, piece of bone let in plush, sent by Miss Ula Scadden, Kokotau, Carterton; and a registered letter, No. 782, addressed “J. D. McEwan, Featherston Street, Wellington,” containing a cheque, No. 89787, for £l4 2s. Bd.,

on the Bank of New Zealand, Carterton, sent by W. F. Knowles, Dalefield, Carterton ; a letter containing a cheque for £9 18s. Bd., No. 960630, on Bank of New South Wales, Wellington, drawn by A. C. McKellar, in favour of “ 630,” crossed for credit of A.M.P. Society, and dated 28th October, 1924; and a registered packet, No. 786, from A. Playle, Matarawa, Carterton, to B. A. Wilson, jeweller and watch importer, Guyton Street, Wanganui, enclosing a policy on the Prudential Assurance Company, No. 51812, for £IOO on furniture in the name of Bernard Albert Wilson, expiring 7th August, 1925. Invercargill. —About 2.15 p.m. on the 31st ultimo the bodies of two prematurely born male children were found on the beach at Invercargill. They were wrapped in several sheets of newspaper (one an Invercargill evening paper of 29th October, 1924), a sheet of brown paper, and a towel. Medical examination revealed that they were six or seven months’ children, one of whom was still-born, and that their birth had taken place not more than twenty-four hours previous to discovery of the bodies on the beach. Any information regarding parentage, &c., is to be communicated . to the Inspector of Police, Invercargill.
