PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —l2th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, William Shiels, age thirty-six, height about 5 ft. 6 in., cheesemaker and ex-naval seaman, native of Scotland, slight build, dark complexion, curly hair going bald, grey eyes, anchor on one arm ; usually dressed in a grey suit; rolling gait. Complainant, Florence Julia Cooper, 33 Dryden Street.

Auckland. —25th instant, that he may be compelled to pay £142 3s. 7d. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his son, an ex-inmate of Wellington Receiving Home, Albert Edward Hunt, age about forty-seven, height about 5 ft. 6 in., native of New Zealand, slight build, brown hair and complexion, clean-shaved; delicate appearance. Inquiry is at the instance of the Education Department.

Cambridge. 2nd October last, on warrant for theft of a silver wristlet watch (recovered) and a white linen underskirt, total value £4 155., the property of Lily Todd, housemaid, National Hotel, Mina Mary Wallace, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., housemaid, native of Scotland, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes; dressed in a black or a black-and-white-striped dress, pink coat and hat, or small black hat. Accused, who was employed at the National Hotel, shared a bedroom with complainant, and before leaving stole the articles. She watchyfrom/Auckland with a note.

Hamilton. —18th instant, on warrant for theft of a watch, . chain, sovereign-case, and pendant (recovered), value £ls, from the person of William Thomas Dalton, farmer, 24 Clarence Street, Auckland, Pat Clancy, alias Sullivan, age about forty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair hair and complexion, thick lips ; dressed in a blue suit with faint white stripes, and soft-felt hat; fond of drink. Accused and Leonard Nuttall, referred to in following paragraph, stole the articles from complainant whilst he was asleep on Frankton Junction railway-platform and pledged them in the Waikato Loan/Company’s .pawnshop for £2. build, fair complexion, fair hair going bald, blue eyes, two upper teeth gold-filled ; usually dressed in a grey suit and cap. Accused obtained the above amount from Richard H.udner as payment for an advertisement which accused stated would appear in the “ Waikato Sun.” He failed to account for the amount and disappeared. H. Brown, false pretences : It has been ascertained by the Hamilton police that accused is identical with George Brooks, an absconder from licensed service, vide Police Gazette, 1923, page 30. Inglewood. On or about the 24th ultimo, on warrant for theft of 155., the property of Andrew Dodunski, farmer, Egmont, Joseph Mischefski, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion and hair, speaks slowly, lazy and fond of drink. Accused was working for complainant when he committed the offence. Accused obtained a set of bagpipes, value £23 25., and 18s. cash from Charles Begg and Co., music-vendors, Manners Street, by means of a cheque for £24 on the Bank of New Zealand, Masterton, to which he forged the signature of P. Lawrence. —lsth instant, on warrant for false pretences, Robert Roberts, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 74 in., butcher and veterinary surgeon, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, brown hair turning grey and going bald, brown eyes, scar on left upper arm, on right forefinger, and at base of left thumb ; left little finger contracted.
