Dargaville.— 23rd December last, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, John Henry Kenneth Jones, age thirty, height sft. 10in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, fair hair, light-blue eyes, high forehead, Roman nose, artificial teeth. Accused and complainant lived together at Auckland, Complainant, Mabel Harriet Baldwin, Kirikopuni.

Accused stole the coat from 44 Albert Street, and pledged it for Bs. at John Cohen’s pawnshop in Victoria Street. No warrant.

Auckland. —2Gth ultimo, on warrant for indecent as-ault, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-seven, height about sft. 7in., medium build, fresh complexion; dressed in a black suit, black-felt hat, aud black bow tie with white Fpots. Accused took Gertrude Louisa Rhodes (seven years of age) on to the Ellerslie Racecourse and committed the offence.

Auckland.— 2sth July last, that he may be compelled to maintain his children, Frederick James Haryey, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., taxi driver and motor engineer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved ; usually drt-sfed in a darksuit and lighb-feft hat. Tolaga Bay. —2nd January last, on warrant for theft of a horse, trap, and harness, value £39, the property of Mark Barber, labourer, William Costello, age about twenty-two, height 5 ft. 10in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight bui d, fresh complexion, dark hair; usually dressed in a dark suit and hat; quiet manner. Accused and Victor Rupert Anderson, alias Perrett, referred to in Police Gazette, 1919, page 177, borrowed the horse, trap, and harness from complainant and sold them for £25 to Mrs. Redstone, Tokomaru Bay.

Woodville. —20!h February last-, that two summonses for (1) negligently driving a motor-car, and (2) driving a motor-car at a dangerous speed, may be served upon him, Walter Henry Batchelor, age about twenty seven, height about sft. Gin., taxi-driver, medium build, dark hair and complexion, large mouth ; untidy appearance.

Wellington. —lst instant, on warrants for breaking and entering the premises of Oscar Hull-Brown, musicalinstrument importer. 137 Vivian Street, and stealing therefrom : A silver-plated, engraved, tenor slide trombone, with “ J. Highan Ltd., Makers, 127 Strangeways, Manchester, No. 62L73,” marked on the bell; a silver-plated cornet, marked as above (substituting “Rex” for “contesting ”); a second-hand silver-plated cornet in case, with “made by Boosey and Co., Regent Str-et, London,” on it, 61494 on bell; a second-hand silver-plated cornet, “made by Besson ” on it, 30599 on bell; six highly-polished violins; a viola showing several cracks which have been glued; four flutes, “Boehm system,” and “J. W. Copithorne, Wellington,” on first and middle joints; fourteen piccolos, with “ J. W. Copithorne, Wellington,” and “ German Wood - wind Instruments and Saxophones Manufactory, Oscar Adler and C0.,”0n them ; a oboe (marked as piccolos) ; two clarionets ; and six bows for violoncello : total value, £125. Identifiable. (1) James Arthur Pollard, alias A. W. Taylor, &c., age twenty, height 5 ft. painter and musician, native of West Indies, medium build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes; dress d in a blue or brown suit (see Police Gazette, 1917, page 569); and (2) Darcy Robert McDevitt, alias McDonald, age about twenty-four, height about 5 ft. 11 in., medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a blue suit with buttons on coat cuffs and pockets, black hat and fawn overcoat. Accused failed to report to the Probation Officer her change of address, and she has also broken her prohibition order. Her license has been cancelled, and her arrest is desired. The offender is in all probability identical with John Spain, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. in., storeman, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, fair hair, brown eyes.
