Examination for Promotion, 1918.

The next examination of members of the Force who desire to qualify for promotion will be held at the headquarters station in each police district on the 24th, 25th, and 26th September, 1918. All members of the Force who desire to sit for examination must give notice of their intention to do so in accordance with Regulation No. 418. The notice must reach the officer in oharge of the district not later than 24th July, 1918, and any intending candidate who fails to give such notice within the prescribed time will not be permitted to sit for examination.

Police Museum

A room having been set aside for a police museum in the new Police Headquarters building at Wellington, it is requested that exhibits taken possession of by the police in important criminal cases, such as housebreaking tools, pistols, revolvers, knives, photographs, &c., be in future forwarded to this office, properly labelled with a reference to the case and arresting officer’s name. Such articles should be addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Wellington, and marked “ For Museum.”

Motor Regulation Act , 1908.

The distinguishing numerals assigned to the Patea County Council under the Motor Regulation Act, 1908, have been extended from “ 1 to 200 ” to “ 1 to 500.” The list published in Police Gazette , 1918, page 465, is to be amended accordingly. The distinguishing numerals assigned to the Stratford County Council under the Motor Regulation Act, 1908, have been extended from “ 1 to 500 ” to “1 to 1000.” The list published in Police Gazette , 1917, page 465, is to be amended accordingly.
