PROPERTY STOLEN.
Auckland. —Between the 17th and 25th ultimo, from MAUD LILLIAN COLE’S bedroom, 5 Scotia Place, a 15 ct. gold two-bar brooch with knobs at ends, and scroll in centre between bars, whioh tapers at ends, set with a diamond in centre and a ruby at each end; value, £2 ss. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Emma Williams, age about twenty, height sft. 6 in., domestic, strong build, fresh oomplexion, dark-brown hair, upturned nose; usually dressed in a brown skirt, grey coat, and a three-cornered hat with a red crown. Suspect has been interviewed by the Auokland police, but no implicative evidence was obtained.
Auckland.— On or about the 7th August last, from a motor-wagon in Enfield Street, Mount Eden, the property of OTTO FISCHER, Great North Road, a Remey magneto for a two-cylinder engine and a Schebler carburettor : total value, £2O. Identifiable.
Manaia. —On or about the 10th instant, from WILLIAM WRIGHT’S paddock, Ahipaipa Road, Inaha, a brown draught horse with a white star on forehead, and a lightbay draught horse with a white star on forehead and branded with a 4 on left shoulder : total value, £SO. Identifiable.
Wellington.— 2sbh August last, from a bedroom at 9 Mulgrave Street, the property of HORACE L. SPEAR, care of J. A. Brodie, Collins Street, Hawera, a khaki-coloured sea kit-bag, containing a quantity of clothing and a greenstone axe about 9 in. long, with a wooden handle; also a lock and a piece of chain : total value, £ls. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Hayward, age thirty, height 5 ft. 5 in., soldier, slight build, fair hair.
Wellington. —Between the Bth and 9th instant, while in transit between Wellington and Nelson, the property of MACKY, LOGAN, AND CALDWELL] (LIMITED), 9 Willeeton Street, twenty ohiidren’s all-wool black hose, with “Unshrinkable” stamped on them; six Keepkool singlets, sizes 36 and 38, with “Keepkool underware” stamped on tape inside of neck; two grey Borsaline hats, with “Tne Cambridge” branded on band and “Nizza Tebe 7837-2690” written on slip inside of band; and eight pairs of black-and-white-striped Texend and Bull Terrier brand braces : total value, £6 9s. 6d. Identifiable.
Wellington. —Between the sth and 9th instant, from two cases while in transit between Wellington and Nelson, per s.s. “ Pateena,” the property of ROSS AND GLENDINING (LIMITED), 25 Victoria Street, six pairs of ladies’ court-shoes, no strap, kid collar and black button, “ Genuine Goodyear Pump ” on sole, “ Ray Wood Heel ” on heel, sizes 3,4, 5, and 6 ; six pairs ladies’ glace-kid court-shoes, no strap, patent inset, round pearl ornament on front, “Defiance” on sole; seven pairs ladies’ ankle-bar glace-kid shoes, patent inset, round black button on front, “ Defiance ” on sole, sizes 3 to 7; three pairs ladies’ black-kid lace-up shoes with toe-caps, sizes 3,5, and 6, “ Genuine Goodyear Pump” on sole; six pairs of ladies’ black-kid ankle-bar shoes, punched patent collar round front, black button on front (one pair has diamond-shaped pearls on front), sizes 4 and 5, “ Defiance ” on sole ; a pair of ladies’ black-kid ankle-bar shoes, black button on top ; two pairs of girls’ white canvas one-bar shoes, white button on front, sizes 7 and 8, “Fiber Counter” on sole; and a pair of ladies’ black-velvet one-bar shoes, “Velvet Upper,” &c., on sole, size 6 : total value, £24 11s. Identifiable.
Temuka.— NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT’S (Railway and Postal Departments’) property stolen : One of the suspects, Robert James, has been arrested by the Kaitangata and Balclutha police. He had assumed the name William Davis. (See Police Gasette, 1914, page 691.)
