PROPERTY STOLEN.

Newton. 26th ultimo, the property of WILLIAM SENIOB, 12 Warnock Street, Grey Lynn, while asleep in the Domain, a boys’ small nickel watch, and a gentlemen’s gold long-link watch-chain, with a small gold-mounted greenstone pendant attached ; total value, £5 10s. Identifiable. The articles were stolen from complainant while he was asleep in the Domain.

Auckland. —7th ultimo, the property of FANNY WOOD MAXFIELD, Henley Grove, Epsom, a red-leather purse, about 6 in. long and 4 in. deep, five compartments, silver dome fastener on side, containing a half-crown, a sixpennypiece, ninepence in coppers, and several postal stamps ; total value, about £2. Purse only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), height about 5 ft. 6 in., who seized complainant by the throat, snatched her purse, and ran away.

Newmarket. —On or about the 20th instant, from a motor air-pump at the junction of Fairfax Boad and Gillies Avenue, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVEBNMENT (Telegraph Department), a magneto, square base, two bolt-holes, magnets painted black, other fittings brass and vulcanite, half of clutch on shaft, “Martincan,” and an English name and “ Paris” on plate ; a quantity of (20) insulated wire, and 2 ft. of copper pipe, with a double turn in middle : total value, £lO 9s. 6d. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Boy, age sixteen.

Waihi.—On or about the 16th instant the dwelling of John Guild, Connell Street, was broken into, and the following articles, the property of THOMAS GUILD, stolen

therefrom : Two £5 notes ; three £1 notes ; a brown-leather pocketbook, with “ D.G.” in gold on it; a gentlemen’s silver half-hunting watch, maker William Watson, Kerriemuir ; a 9 ct. gold-mounted black-silk watch-guard, with a shield (with a buckle at each side of it) in centre ; two small chains from each buckle to shield, and small chains at each end attached to spring hooks, with an opal pendant with a gold band around it and a nickel match-box attached : total value, £2l 7s. Identifiable except money.

Te Aroha. —15th instant, from a bedroom at the Hot Springs Hotel, the property of WILLIAM MASON, a gentlemen’s brown-tweed overcoat; a pair of brown gloves, knitted at wrists; a brush and comb; and a black clothesbrush, with a white border : total value, £4 9s. Identifiable.

Porangahau.— lßth instant, from a bedroom, the property of THOMAS GABDINEB, hotelkeeper, Wimbledon, a sovereign, £l7 10s. in half-sovereigns, £2 6s. in threepennypieces, a £lO note, forty-six £1 notes, a 10s. note, £27 in silver (including a half-crown dated 1835), and £57 4s. in cheques and postal notes and several articles cf jewellery (recovered) : total value, £l6l 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Thomas Davidson, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Australia, medium build, tanned complexion, brown hair, grey eyes ; usually dressed in a dark-tweed suit and soft brown hat.

Hastings. —JAMES SMITH O’NEILL’S saddle stolen: The suspect, Edward Walsh, has been interviewed by the Wellington police, but no evidence was obtained. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 740.)

Wellington. —On the 24th instant the dwelling of FBEDEBIGK PLATT, 11 Farm Boad, Northland, was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom : A ladies’ gold engagement-ring, set with two diamonds (one missing) and a sapphine; a ladies’ gold band ring, set with an opal and two amethysts (one missing), a gold fine-link neck-chain, with a greenstone heart pendant (with broken fern-leaf and kiwi on it) attached ; an eight-day Swiss watch, with blueenamelled dial; a black-silk-braid watoh-guard, with a gold shield (with “F.P.” on it) in centre, and a Forrester’s Lodge enamel emblem (with “ F. Platt, 2nd term of office,” on it) attached : total value, £l3 6s. Identifiable.

Mount Gook. —On the 21st instant the dwelling of JOHN HABLEN, 12 Wright Street, was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom : A gold cross with “ 8.M.” on it; a gold cable bangle, with a padlock attached; a gentlemen’s heavy gold band ring with “ J.H.” on it, set with three red stones : and a black case with blue lining, containing drawing instruments : total value, £lO. Identifiable.

Christchurch. —Bth instant, from Alexander Hall, the property of WILLIAM DOUGLAS, 79 Osborne Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled B.S.A. bicycle, wide upturned outrigger handles, with black grips, steel rims, rat-trap pedals, celluloid mud-guards (half of front one missing); value, £4. Identifiable.

Ashburton. —On or about the 11th instant, from the veranda of 19 West Belt, the property of LOWBY TAYLOB, a gentlemen's black enamelled New Hudson bicycle, black grips, Oceanic tire with a patch on it on front wheel, Barnett Glass tire on back wheel (back mud-guard missing) ; value, £3. Identifiable.

Port Chalmers. NEW ZEALAND GOVEBNMENT (Defence Department), notes stolen : One note, No. 095905, has been recovered, it having been received by the National Bank, Dunedin, from some person unknown. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 757.)
