Maher, No. 857, has been awarded £2 for services in connection with the conviction of W. H. Thomas for sly-grog selling at Taumarunui. (10/1359.) Auckland.— Constable W. H. Rogers, No. 1363, has been awarded £8 for the arrest of George William Bates for deserting from H.M.S. “Challenger.” (10/2.) Auckland.— Constable J. A. Mathew, No. 831, has been awarded £8 for the arrest of Walter Booth, a deserter from H.M.S. “Pioneer.” (10/2.) Thames. — Constable T. J. Cummings, No. 1095, has been awarded 103. for services in connection with the conviction of C. L. Innes for failing to notify the Clerk of the Court concerning liquor sent to a no-license district. (10/1318.) Wanganui.— Detective T. Quirke, No. 1029, and Constable J. Tanner, No. 901, have been awarded 10s. each by the Customs Department for services in obtaining the conviction of Joe See and William Sing, of Palmerston North, for smoking opium. (10/2.) Wanganui.— Constables J. J. Gallagher, No. 1366, and A. J. Thompson, No. 1147, have been awarded £25 each for tact and courage in the apprehension of Joseph John Pawelka, sentenced to twenty-one years on several charges of housebreaking and arson at Palmerston North. Constable E. B. Callery, No. 1587, has also been awarded £lO for services in connection with the arrest. (10/610.) Wellington,— Detective S. Rawle, No. 943, has been awarded £3 for the arrest of Harold H. Howell, a deserter from H.M.S. “ Pioneer,” at Sydney. (10/2.) Christchurch. —Sergeant J. Burrows, No. 472 a, has been awarded £3 10s. by the Marine Department for services in connection with convictions obtained against R. Heaton and James Walker for having undersized flounders in their possession at Redcliffs. (10/2.)
