Circular No. 1/07.] Vouchers for Travelling-expenses and Transport of PrisonersThe Audit Office point out that hitherto the only vouchers for travelling-expenses properly certified to are those submitted on the white voucher-forms. They now require all claims for travelling-expenses and transport of prisoners should show in certificate that the persons for whom the services were rendered were travelling on public service. Amongst such claims are included packing and carting for officers on transfer, all coach and steamer fares, and all expenses of whatever nature incurred by police when travelling. The proper certificate therefore will be as follows: “I certify that, to the best of my knowledge and belief, the foregoing account is true and correct in every particular; that the charge reasonable; and that the service has been duly performed; and the persons referred to were travelling on the public service.” Please give this strict attention. W. Dinnie, Commissioner of Police. Wellington, 12th March, 1907.
