Auckland District will include Katikati, Omaio, Opotiki, Rotorua, Taupo, Tauranga, Te Puke, Te Wbaiti, Tokaanu, and Whakatane stations.

Boundaries of Police Districts defined.

Auckland Police District.— All that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north and north-east generally by the sea from Cape Maria Van Diemen to the north-western boundary of Waiapu County; thence towards the south-east generally by the Counties of Waiapu, Cook, Wairoa, and Hawke’s Bay to Kaweka Trig. Station; thence towards the south by the Counties of Hawke’s Bay, Rangitikei, and Waimarino to Ruapehu Trig. Station; thence towards the west by the Counties of Waimarino and West Taupo to the Waihora Stream ; again towards the south-west by the Waihora Stream to its source; thence by the watershed between the Waikato and Ongaruhe Rivers to Pareora Trig. Station; thence by a right line to the source of the Mokau River; thence by the Mokau River to its junction with the Mangaotaki River ; thence by the Mangaotaki River to its source ; thence by a right line to the source of the Kiritehere Stream, and by that stream to the sea; and thence towards the west and south-west generally by the sea to Cape Maria Van Diemen, the place of commencement: including the adjacent islands. Wanganui Police District. —All that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north generally by the Auckland Police District, hereinbefore described, from the mouth of the Kiritehere Stream to the Napier Police District, hereinbefore described ; thence towards the east by the said district to the Manawatu Gorge; thence by the summit of the Tararua Range to Mount Makahika; thence towards the south-west generally by a right line to the confluence of the Koputoroa Stream with the Manawatu River, and thence by that river to the sea; and thence towards the west generally by the sea to the mouth of the Kiritehere Stream, the place of commencement: including the adjacent islands.

Wellington Police District. —All that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north generally by the Wanganui Police District and the Napier Police District respectively, hereinbefore described; and towards the east, south, and west generally by the sea: including the adjacent islands. Also, all that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north and east generally by the ocean from Cape Farewell to the mouth of the Clarence River; thence

towards the south generally by the Counties of Kaikoura, Amuri, Inangahua, and Buffer; and thence towards the west generally by the ocean to Cape Farewell, the place of commencement: including the adjacent islands. Greymouth Police District.— All that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north-east generally by the Wellington Police District, hereinbefore described, from the south-west corner of Collingwood County to the summit of the St. Arnaud Range ; thence towards the southeast generally by Amuri County and the summit of the Southern Alps to Mount Aspiring; thence towards the south by a right line to the nearest point of Big Bay ; and thence towards the north-west generally|by the ocean to the southwest corner of Collingwood County, the place of commencement : including the adjacent islands.

Christchurch Police District. —All that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north generally by the Wellington Police District, hereinbefore described, from Tophouse to the mouth of the Clarence River; thence towards the south-east generally by the ocean to the northeastern boundary-line of Waihemo County ; thence towards the south-west generally by Waihemo, Maniototo, and Vincent Counties to the summit of the Southern Alps; and thence towards the north-west by the Greymouth Police District, hereinbefore described, to Tophouse: including the adjacent islands.

Invercargill Police District. —All that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north generally by the Greymouth Police District, hereinbefore described, from the westernmost point of Big Bay to the northernmost point of Vincent County ; thence towards the east generally by the eastern watershed of the Hunter River and the leading spur to the mouth of the Dingle Burn ; thence by a right line to Breast Hill; thence by a right line to Lindis Peak ; thence by a right line to the junction of Poison Creek with the Clutha River ; thence by a right line to Mount Pisa, the easternmost point of Lake County; thence by the Counties of Vincent, Tuapeka, and Clutha to the sea at Chasland’s Mistake ; thence towards the south and again towards the west by the sea to the westernmost point of Big Bay, the place of commencement: including Stewart Island and the adjacent islands.

Dunedin Police District. —All that area in the Colony of New Zealand bounded towards the north-east generally by the Christchurch Police District, hereinbefore described, from the eastern boundary of the Invercargill Police District, hereinbefore described, to the sea at Shag Point; thence towards the south-east generally by the sea to Chasland’s Mistake, the south-eastern point of the Invercargill Police District aforesaid; thence towards the west generally by the said district to the place of commencement: including adjacent islands.
