Description : Supposed English, master mariner, about forty years of age, about 5 ft. 6 in. high, medium build, fresh complexion, clean-shaved except brown moustache. He was captain of the ss. “ Mangapapa,” and is said to have left Wellington on the 22nd ultimo for Melbourne.

George Marriner is inquired for by the Foxton police at the instance of his wife. Description : A native of New Zealand, labourer, thirty-three years of age, sft. Sin. high, medium build, round shoulders, fair complexion, dark-brown hair inclined to curl, shaved except brown moustache; dressed in black suit, light check cap, and lace-up boots. He may go to Dunedin, where he was formerly a tramdriver. If found, a warrant will be issued for wife-desertion.

Michael Joseph Burk (known as “Mick”) is inquired for by the Havelock police at the instance of Miss Rose Diamanti. Description: A native of Galway, Ireland, contractor and miner, thirty years of age, sft. Yin. high, medium build ; has been in the colony about fifteen years. He was last heard of at Wood Villa Boardinghouse, Nelson Street, Auckland, about the 20th March last. Fears are entertained for his safety. Photograph filed in the Inspector’s office, Wellington.

Archibald Patrick (known as “ Pat ”) is inquired for by the Rakaia police, at the instance of Nellie Wilson Treglowan, with a view of compelling him to support his illegitimate child. Description : A native of New Zealand, carpenter, twenty-one years of age, 5 ft. 4 in. or 5 in. high, medium build, fair hair, fair complexion, large brown eyes, round features, smart active appearance; generally dressed in dark-brown tweed suit and light-felt hat. May have come to the North Island.

Archibald Leckie is inquired for by the Orepuki police with a view to serve him with a summons for refusing to quit the Masonic Hotel. Description : A native of New Zealand, labourer, twenty-three years of age, 5 ft. sJin. high, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, flag on right arm, A.L. on left arm (See Police Gazette, 1902, page 163.)

Isaac Harry Bachelor is inquired for by the Christ church police at the instance of his family, who are anxious as to his safety. Description : A farmer, sixty-one years of age, 5 ft. 6 in. high, stooped, reddish complexion, sandy moustache, brown hair turning grey, left eye blind ; dressed in grey trousers patched at knees, striped shirt, and Cardigan jacket. Was last heard of at Lyttelton, on 7th instant.

Tunn. —lnformation is requested by the Victorian police as to the whereabouts of Hugh Tunn. He is a native of County Tyr ne, Ireland, and was last heard of at Gippsland about four years ag". He was then married, and farming a section of land. Was formerly employed mining. His brother, Andrew Tunn, is said to be employed in some

capacity of trust by a solicitor in New Zealand, and if found may know the present address of his brother. Inquiries are made in connection with the intestate estate of A. Tunn, Sydney. Special inquiries to be made, and early report forwarded to the Commissioner’s office. (03/924.)

Clayton. —lnformation is requested concerning the whereabouts of Richard Clayton, at the instance of William Sutherland, Dalmarnock Gasworks, Glasgow. Description: A farmer, about forty-five years of age, fair complexion, medium height, stout build, smart appearance. He and his wife left Newcastle-on-Tyne in December, 1901, for New Zealand, with the intention of sheep-farming, and are supposed to have settled in the Canterbury district. (03/829.)
