Absconding from Industrial Schools.

Henry Francis Smith and Thomas Lambert absconded from the Burnham Industrial School on the 12th ultimo. Description : First—Eighteen years of age, 5 ft. 5 in. high, blue eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, stout build, grey patch on top of head; probably dressed in tweed suit; is clever at wood-carving, and was transferred from Caversham in 1901. His stepfather, Hay Smith, resides at Netherby, near Ashburton. Second—Eighteen years and eleven months old, about 5 ft. 5 in. high, blue eyes, stout build, respectful manner, very talkative and speaks well; was committed from Wellington in February, 1888.

George Adams absconded from the Burnham Industrial School on the 22nd ultimo. Description : Fifteen years of age, about 5 ft. 6 in. high, light hair, pale complexion, slight build; dressed in dark-tweed suit and straw hat. Committed from Christchurch in 1891.

Arthur Ernest Bassett and Joseph Thomas Daly absconded from the Burnham Industrial School on the 14th ultimo. Descriptions: First Sixteen years of age, about 4 ft. 10in. high, very stout build, large head, thick neck, slow heavy speech, a good cornet-player ; committed from Auckland in 1899. Second —Fifteen years of age, 4 ft. 10 in. high, stunted growth, blue eyes, dark hair, long dark eyelashes, projecting ears, freckled face, small nose, front teeth much decayed; dressed in dark-tweed knicker suit, tweed cap, and heavy boots ; committed from Wellington in 1902.
