Walter Bayley is inquired for by the Christchurch police, at the instance of George Sydney Pope, Bank of New Zealand, Christchurch. Description: A native of England, tanner, about forty-two years of age, 6 ft. lin. high, stout build, florid complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved except fair moustache ; is a member of the firm of Bayley Bros., tanners, Burnside, Dunedin. He arrived in Lyttelton from Wanganui and Wellington on the 21st ultimo, and no trace can be obtained of him since.

Charles Grether is inquired for by the Kaiapoi police with a view to compel him to contribute towards the support of his wife and child. Description: A native of Germany, watchmaker and labourer, forty-six years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. high, fair complexion whiskers and moustache. He left Greymouth about the 6th January last and has not been seen since.

George Manson is inquired for by the Invercargill police, at the instance of his wife, who has been left destitute. Description : A native of New Zealand, sawmill-hand and labourer on station, fifty years of age, 5 ft. 10 in. high, thin build, fair complexion, fair or sandy beard and moustache, usually shaves on cheeks, dark-brown hair turning grey; dressed in dark coat and vest, light-tweed trousers, light-felt hat with light spotted ribbon band ; is fond of drink. Was last heard of at Woodland, Southland, on the 26th December last.

Ord. abouts of John Ord, who left Newcastle in 1878 for Otago. He is described as a mine-sinker, fifty-eight years of age, and resided in Durham before coming to the colony. Evidence is required of his death and of his children’s births and deaths. One child, named Hannah, was born in England in 1870. Labatt. — Information is requested concerning the whereabouts of Edward Labatt, who is now said to be going under the name of Tom Mackenzie. Description : Seventeen years of age, 5 ft. 9 in. high, fair complexion, brown hair, stout build, round full features; was working as a groom for a Captain Lloyd, at Goulburn, New South Wales, and, if seeking employment, may produce a discharge from him and one from Mr. Belcher. He is supposed to have left New South Wales about October last for New Zealand, and three letters posted to him and directed “E.L., Post-office, Auckland,” were called for there about three months ago, but no trace can now be obtained of him.
