Deserters from Merchant Vessels.
From the Barque “ Woosung," at Aratapu. On 2nd November, 1902.
Arthur Lewis, ships’ cook, a native of England, about forty-three years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. high, swarthy complexion, large nose, clean-shaved except heavy black moustache ; his wife lives in Freeman’s Bay, Auckland. Supposed to be on some of the gumfields. The barque has left for Sydney, but offender should be kept in view, as he will probably be charged with false pretences on Captain Evan Davies.
From the Ship “Blenheim,” at Napier. On 11th November, 1902.
George Wilson, seaman, supposed native of England, about forty years of age, about 5 ft. 10 in. high, sandy com-
plexion, hair turning grey, sandy or fair moustache only; dressed in blue coat, brown trousers, and sailor cap. He was engaged in Wellington to ship on the “Blenheim” at Napier, and on arrival there neglected to join. He was last seen on the 11th ultimo carrying a sailors’ canvas bag.
From the Ship “ Machrihanish,” at Wellington. On 12th November, 1902. G. Johnson, a native of Norway, twenty-two years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. high, slight build, fair moustache, peculiarshaped ears, flat on top, fresh complexion, prominent cheek bones and chin, stout build.
A. Olsen, twenty-four years of age, 5 ft. 6in. high, reddish moustache, fair complexion.
W. Wilson, native of Sweden, twenty-eight years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. high, medium build, dark complexion, cast in right eye.
From the s.s. “ Tokomaru,” at Wellington
On 20th November, 1902. James Potter, a native of England, seaman and ships’ steward, about thirty years of age, about 5 ft. 10 in. high, slight build, sallow complexion, black hair, slight black moustache.
