(See Police Gazette, 1902, page 38.) Auckland. — John Bowes Monkman, charged with disobeying an order of Court for the maintenance of his wife, has been arrested by Constable F. A. Waterman, Mercer police, and remanded.

Auckland. —Ralph Ormston, charged with failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, left Auckland as steerage passenger by the s.s. “ Te Anau ” for Gisborne on the 11th ultimo. He has a dirty appearance, and will probably work south, hawking scented soap, metalpolish, &c., to pick up his mate.

Palmerston North. — Alexander Simpson is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court to pay arrears due for the maintenance of his children in the Caversham Industrial School. Description: A native of Scotland, a baker and station cook, fifty-five years of age, 5 ft. 6 in. high, stout build, ruddy complexion, fair hair, and blue eyes ; dressed in brown-tweed suit and soft brown-felt hat; slovenly appearance. (See Police Gazette, 1901, page 225.) Was last seen in Palmerston North on the 14th instant. There is due up to the 21st ultimo the sum of £2lB ss.

Westport. —James Healy, charged with failing to provide for the future maintenance of his illegitimate child, has been arrested by Acting-Detective A. Cameron, Wellington police, and remanded.

Christchurch. Samuel William Needham is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child. Description : A native of New Zealand, a labourer, thirty-four years of age, 5 ft. 11 in. high, slight build, dark complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, dark moustache only. Was last heard of in Bourke, New South Wales.

Dunedin. — William Theodore Almquist is charged on warrant with deserting his wife, Eleanor Almquist, since the Bth instant. Description: A native of Sweden, a dyer and laundryman, fifty years of age, 5 ft. 10 in. high, stout heavy build, broad features, sallow oomplexion, very small blue eyes, generally wears glasses, clean-shaved exoept light moustache, dark hair, very broad flat nose, walks slightly bent, with eyes looking down. Generally goes under the name of Aim. Was employed on the co-operative works at Ohingaiti, and is supposed to have come to Wellington.

Queensland. — Arthur Henry Cooper is charged on warrant at Brisbane with deserting his children at Texas on the 2nd January, 1902. Description: State-school teacher, about thirty years of age, 5 ft. 4 in. or 5 in. high, medium build, about 9 stone weight, fair oomplexion, large eyes slightly sunk in head; fair hair, generally worn short just in front, where it was usually worn in form of curl brought down towards centre of forehead; except in this particular, hair straight and spare; slight fair moustache, prominent cheek and jaw bones, medium head, high forehead, crown of head rather low down at baok, spare eye-

brows same colour as hair, ordinary nose, rather large mouth for size of head, lips tightly closed when not in conversation, peculiar chin with deep dimple in centre, rather short legs and inclined to be bowed; short thick fingers, having less difference in their length than usually exists, with broad flat points ; flesh inclined to turn over nails, which were badly bitten, and often discoloured by photographic chemicals; feet slightly turned inwards, very active gait with long stride, swinging arms when walking, body bent forward. He is a fair taxidermist, a good amateur photographer, and good violinist. Supposed gone to New Zealand, and is said to be accompanied by a woman named Violet Alcorn. If found, information to be forwarded to the Commissioner’s office. Extradition expenses guaranteed. (02/372.)
