Attempted Murder.
Russell. — Takirihi Kaupeka, alias D. H. Phillips, is charged on warraufc with having, on the 27th January, 1902, attempted to murder Agnes Tanui ( nee Cook), at Waikare, Bay of Islands. Description: A three-quarter-caste Maori, twenty-five years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. or 8 in. high, dark complexion, small round dark-brown eyes sunk back in head, dark heavy eyebrows, short nose, slight dark moustache, thick lips turned outwards, “ Takirihi ” tattooed on one of his arms, medium build, smart appearance. Is a good allround bush-labourer. When last seen was wearing browncoloured trousers, dark-tweed coat and vest, and soft lightfelt hat. Supposed to be hiding in the bush.
