Housebreaking, Stealing from the Person, &c.

Eden Terrace (Auckland).— Jane Edmunds, East Street, reports that on the 7th instant her dwelling was broken into and the following stolen: A petrified-wood brooch (goldmounted), a silver-quartz gold-mounted brooch, a round gold brooch with twisted gold wire, a wicker basket, two pillow-slips, a half-sovereign, a half-crown, and a florin ; total value, £6 Bs. 6d.

Identifiable.

Thorndon Quay (Wellington). —Francis McGovern, Kaiwarra, reports stolen from his hotel, on the 25th ultimo, four canaries; value, £5. Suspicion attached to Thomas Teece, a native of England, a fireman, thirty-one years of age, sfc. 6 in. high, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, medium nose. Lyttelton. —John Whall, A.B. on s.s. “ Otarama,” reports stolen from him, on the 9th instant, a silver English lever hunting-watch, “Charles J. Hill” on dial, J.W. scratched on shield of case, small dent in the case near the shield ; also a £1 note on the Bank of New Zealand, and about 10s. in silver : total value, £6 10s.

Addington.— John Daniel Cade, Park Road, reports that on the 23rd ultimo his dwelling was broken into, and three £1 notes and ss. in silver stolen. A man was seen in the house, but escaped. Description: About sft. sin. high, slight active build; dressed in blue-dungaree jumper, dark trousers and cap, no hair on face, supposed about twentyfive years of age. Identification doubtful.
