(See Police Gazette, 1901, page 221.) Auckland. —John Delaney, charged with false pretences on J. E. Taylor, has been arrested by Detective P. T. McMahon, Auckland police. His correct name is John Sheard.

Foxton. — Edward Charles Ferris (known as Teddy Ferris) is charged on warrant with having indecently assaulted Amy Harris, a child fourteen years of age, on or about October last. Description: Supposed colonial, labourer, thirty-four years of age, about 5 ft. 4 in. high, active, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, clean-shaved, theatrical appearances; sings well, and plays the banjo and piano ; dressed in blue-serge suit, black Dr. Jim hat or dark-tweed cap, tan boots. When in Wellington stops at Clyde Quay Hotel, and has a relation residing at No. 280, Colombo Street, Christchurch. The complainant is six months enceinte to offender, and may not get over the confinement. Offender was recently in Christchurch, and intended going to Dunedin.

Hastings. —J. W. Bates, chemist, reports that on the 28th ultimo a forged cheque for £2 10s., purporting to be signed by Henry Scott, was uttered to hirn by George Stevens. Description: Supposed English, a labourer, forty-four years of ege, 5 ft. Bin high., medium build, dark hair and moustache; suffers from heart disease. Identifiable. He obtained medicine from the complainant, and also £2 7s. change.

Addington.— Joseph Walker is charged on two warrants of commitment to Lyttelton Gaol, for seven days on each, in default of paying £2 13s. 6d., fine and costs, for falsely representing himself to be a traveller, and refusing to quit licensed premises. Description : A native of New Zealand, a labourer and bootmaker, nineteen years of age, sft. din. high, slight build, daik complexion, black hair worn long in front, no hair on face, dark brown eyes; generally dressed in dark-tweed suit and cap, bell-bottomed trousers. He was fined £1 and costs on each charge, on the 12th ultimo, and allowed time to pay but failed to do so.

Methven. —Michael O’Snea, charged with default of fine for drunkenness, has been arrested and lodged in Lyttelton Gaol.

Palmerston. — Albert Johnstone is charged on two warrants of commitment to Dunedin Gaol, for forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 2s. fine and costs for drunkenness, and fourteen days in default of paying £3 10s. for committing a breach of the peace. Description: A native of Palmerston, a labourer, twenty-five years of age, about sft. 9in. high, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair, no hair on face; dressed in dark-tweed suit and soft black-felt hat; is fond of drink. The sum of £4 12s. is now due on both warrants.

Dunedin. Mary Basan, nie Saywell, and John Spence are charged on warrant with having assaulted and robbed Michael Quinn, at Ravensbourne, on the 29th ultimo. Descriptions: First, a prostitute, twenty-six years of age, 4ft. lOin. high, fair hair and complexion, scar near chin. Second, an express-driver, twenty-six years of age, 5 ft. 9 in. or 10in. high, strong build, dark-brown hair, clean-shaved except fair moustache, scar near forehead. The first offender left Dunedin on the 4th instant, supposed for the North Island or the West Coast, and may be accompanied by the male offender.
