Absconding from Industrial Schools.

Jambs Alexander Lory absconded from the Burnham Industrial School on the 24th September last. Description : Fourteen years and two months old, 4ft. Bin. high, stout build, brown eyes, brown hair, fresh complexion, hoarse voice. Probably in the Invercargill district. Was committed on the sth April, 1900, from Waipawa.

Herbert James Presling absconded from the Burnham Industrial School on the 17th May, 1900. Description : Eighteen years and nine months old, 5 ft. 3 in. high, stout build, blue eyes, brown hair ; seems half-witted. Committed on 27th July, 1896, from Napier. His parents then lived in Havelock Road, Napier.

Robert Hawthorne absconded from the Burnham Industrial School on the Bth August last. Description: Fifteen years and one mouth old, 5 ft. 4 in. high, slight build, brown eyes, brown hair, dark complexion. Mother lives at Prebbleton. Was committed from Christchurch on the 25th June, 1901.

Charles Robert Peterson absconded from the Burnham Industrial School on the 4th June, 1900. Description : Nineteen years old, sft. 6in. high, stout build, blue eyes, brown hair, fresh complexion, peculiar twitch of eyelid and side of lip. Is supposed to have made for the West Coast. Samuel Jones Ritchie absconded from the Burnham Industrial School on the 17th October, 1900. Description: Eighteen years and five months old, 5 ft. 6 in. high, stout build, blue eyes, fair hair, fair complexion ; mother lives in East Street, Newton, Auckland. Was committed from Auckland on the 10th April, 1895. (See Police Gazette, 1900, page 280.)

Arthur Cecil Quartermain absconded from the Burnham Industrial School on the 19th October, 1900. Description : Nineteen years and seven months old, 5 ft. 4 in. high, stout build, blue eyes, fair hair, fair complexion; parents live at Riccarton. Was committed on the 6th July, 1899, from Christchurch. (See Police Gazette, 1900, page 280.)

William Henry Wells absconded from the Burnham Industrial Sohool on the 13th September, 1899. Description : Seventeen years and four months old, 5 ft. 4 in. high, slight build, dark-brown eyes, fair hair, fair complexion. Was committed from Wellington on 23rd December, 1898. See Police Gazette, 1899, page 209.)

Percy Murray, alias Percy Hammond, absconded from the Burnham Industrial School on the Ist October. 1899. Description: Fifteen years and nine months old, sft. 2 in. high, slight build, blue eyes, fair hair, pale complexion. His mother, Christina Ballantyne, lived in Christchurch. May travel about with hawkers. Was committed on the 3rd January, 1896, from Christchurch.

John Lawrie absconded from the Burnham Industrial Sohool on the 12th April, 1897. He is now eighteen years of age, and was commLted from Westport on the 12th April, 1894. His parents are living in Wellington.

Edward Ernest Williamson, licensed from the Burnham Industrial School, absconded from the service of Mr. Chinnery, Papanui, on the 25th January, 1900. Description : Eighteen years and seven months old, about 5 ft. 2 in. high, slight build, blue eyes, fair hair, fair complexion. Committed from Auckland, 11th July, 1895.

Bertie Albert Highsted, licensed from Burnham Industrial School, absconded from the service of James Corbett, Hornby, on the 25th February, 1900. Description : About nineteen years of age, about 5 ft. 4 in. high, stout build, brown eyes, fair hair, fresh complexion, scar in front of throat. Committed from Christchurch, 26th Decembar, 1896.

William Edgar Minns, licensed from Burnham Industrial School, absconded from the service of F. A. Saunders, Mount Somers, on the 6th September, 1900. Description: Nineteen years and eight months oid, about 5 ft. 7 in. high, stout, heavy build, fair hair, ruddy complexion, slouching walk. Committed from Nelson, 13th September 1893.

William Richard Coleman, licensed from Burnham Industrial School, absconded from the service of James Copeland, Chertsey, on the 29th November, 1900. Description: Nineteen years and three months old, 5 ft. 8 in. high, stout buiid, brown eyes, dark hair, dark complexion. Committed from New Plymouth, 6th July, 1897. The Manager of the Burnham Industrial School should be notified before any of the above absconders are arrested.
