Avondale. —Joseph Wilkins, farmer, reports stolen from his stable, between the 7th and 9th instant, a gentlemen’s saddle with pigskin seat, maker’s name, “ F. Wilson, Kingsland,” stamped on flaps, has been newly repaired underneath the flaps; a blue-and-white girth, probably branded W.D.; and nickel-plated stirrup-irons : value, £2. Identifiable.

Napier. —Gordon Saxby reports stolen, on the 28th or 29th ultimo, an iron smoothing-plane, two 2 in. chisels, and a clasp pruning-knife ; value, 15s. 6d.

Napier. —Samuel McLernon, watchmaker, reports stolen from his washhouse, on the 28th or 29th ultimo, seven white shirts, some with “ Noble Campbell ” and others with “ S. McLernon” or “ H. McLernon ” on the tab ; value, £1 ss.

Clarke,” leathers attached; a silver-mounted breastplate, no bosses; two new neck-straps, loop for girth has been repaired : value, £1 10s. Identifiable.

Wellington. —W. Jago, Chief Postmaster, reports stolen from the mail-cart at the wharf, on the 23rd ultimo, a double-breasted black-oilskin coat with velvet collar; value, £1 ss.

Suspicion attached to Patrick Horan, a native of London, fireman on s.s. “ Otarama,” twenty-six years of age, 5 ft. 6in. high, fair complexion, fair hair, small fair moustache; dressed in blue-serge suit and skull-cap.

Wellington.— Agnes Forsythe, care of Mrs. Abbott, Wanganui, reports stolen from a hamper in the Mauawatu train, between Wellington and Wanganui, on the Bth ultimo, a black-serge skirt, almost new; a pair of tan lace-up shoes (size 4); a pair of black button shoes (size 4), have been halfsoled ; a white night-dress with sailor collar, and a black figured blouse : value, £2. Identifiable.

Wellington. —John Meredith, engineer, Masonic Hotel, reports stolen from his vest, which was hanging up at the Patent Slip, on the 25th ultimo, a silver Swiss lever hunting-watch, maker W. Coltman, Waimate, and is either one of the following numbers: 824703, 824706, 824,707,

or 824709 ; 22/4/99 marked on inside of case, silver curb chain attached: value, £3 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Angus Black, who was working at the Slip. (For description see Police Gazette 1901, page 248.)

Wellington. —Charles James Hickson, clerk, Loan and Mercantile Company, reports stolen from Featherston Street, on the 28th ultimo, a gentlemen’s Star bicycle No. bell and brake attached, straight handle-bars, cork grips, Brooks saddle; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Wellington. —George Mitchell, charged with theft from George Bell, has been arrested by Constable C. Bleasel, Stratford police, on information supplied by Constable O Grey, Eketahuna. Suspicion attached to Henry Hargreaves, a native of England, labourer, thirty-one years of age, 5 ft. 3Jin. high, dark complexion, dark Lair, brown eyes; dressed in dark coat and vest, light trousers, and dark cap. Naseby. —Edwin Jopson reports stolen from Peter Law’s woolshed, Wedderburn, on the 10th instant, a sack of rabbitskins ; value, £4.

Gore. —Between the 12 th and 23rd ultimo there was stolen from the railway goods-shed at Riversdale, a bag, marked R H over R, divided by a horizontal line, containing clover-seed, consigned from Nimmo and Blair, Dunedin to R. Hamilton ; value, £3 7s.

Dunedin. —James Connor, manager, Covent Garden Company, reports that on the 30th or 31st ultimo the shop in George Street was broken open, and a National cash-register, containing 125., stolen. The register has been since found broken open, and the contents stolen.

Woodhaugh. — Frank Archer is charged on warrant with the theft, on or about the 22nd August, 1901, of £1 Bs. 5d., the money of his employer, David Thompson Roy, dairyman. Description : A native of Roslyn, seventeen years of age, about 5 ft. 3 in. high, fair complexion, very fair hair, large nose, pimples on face, slovenly walk, small for age. He received the above sum and other amounts from the customers to whom he delivered milk, and failed to account for the same.

Mataura. —Harry Wright, bicycle agent, Gore, reports stolen from a right-of-way, near the Public Hall, on the Ist instant, a Rover bicycle, No. .15701, wooden handlebars, Brooks B. 28 saddle, black-enamelled 27 in. frame, roller chain, front wheel 30 in., back wheel 28in.; value, £ls. Identifiable.
