Auckland.— John Brothers Nagle, cook, reports stolen from the forecabin of the s.s. “ Taviuni,” between the 4th and 10th instant, thirty-nine sovereigns and £1 in silver. Not identifiable.

Auckland. —James Reid, farmer, Motutapu, reports stolen from his breeding-pens, on the 30ch ultimo or Ist instant, twelve prize fowls, consisting of three grey Brahmapootra hens and a rooster, three black Orpington hens and a rooster, and three silver-grey Dorking hens and a rooster ; value, £2l. Identification doubtful.

Devonport.— Jeanie Fraser reports stolen from St. Leo’s Academy, on the 2nd instant, a ladies’ fawn mackintosh coat, with two side-pockets, one of them containing a cotton handkerchief marked A in red thread, a small darned hole below right shoulder, and a black paint-mark about 3 in. long on one side of coat; value, £2. Identifiable.

Rawene.— Theft of George William Kendall’s gum: About half the stolen gum was recovered by Constable F. A. Moore, Rawene police, and Selwin, Lionel, Walter, and George Hardiman committed for trial for the offence.

Hamilton. —Charles F. Atkinson, farmer, reports stolen either from the Frankton Railway-platform or between Frankton and Auckland, on the 9th ultimo, a brown-leather gladstone bag, C.F.A. in black letters on the side, containing a gentlemen’s dark-tweed sac suit, “ Broome, New Plymouth ” on tab of coat; two white singlets, two tennisshirts with red and white stripes; two silk ties, one black with red stripes, the other blue ; a pair of patent-leather shoes, size 8 ; a pair of hair brushes in leather case, a tooth brush, six white handkerchiefs, two pairs of black socks, a suit of pyjamas, and several important documents : value, £8 17s. Porootarao. —Walter Williams, settler, reports stolen from a railway-truck at Ongarue, on the sth or 6th instant, a case of jam, “Fern” brand, six 7 lb. bags of oatina, six fawn- and brown coloured Raleigh felt hats, a 51b. tin of Nelson, Moate, and Co.’s tea, a box of cigars, and sundry other articles ; value, £7.

Napier. —William Downes, Pungaroa, Masterton, reports stolen from the s.s. “Moura,” between Gisborne and Napier, on the 22nd or 23rd ultimo, a double-barrelled breechloading gun, “Manufactured at Army and Navy Cooperative Company’s Stores ” on the stock, “ B.K. quality ” on bottom lever; a black-enamelled canvas gun case, lined with green leather, not much worn, containing reloading and gun-cleaning apparatus : value, £ll.

Eketahuna. —William McArdle McLean, sawmill-hand, reports stolen from the Ranfurly Stables, on the 28th or 29th ultimo, a new brown military head-stall bridle, double reins, brass buckles and squares, three keepers on each cheek-piece; a solid nickel Pelham bit and curb, no throat strap: value, £1 7s. 6d. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Albert E. Mosen, a native of New Zealand, a mill-hand and bullock-driver, about twenty-eight years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. high, slight build, dark complexion and hair, dark moustache; dressed in grey coat and vest, dark trousers, and wide drab-felt hat. Supposed to have gone to Dannevirke.

Wellington. —Mrs. M. H. Ellerbeck, No. 26, St. Mary’s Road, Ponsonby, Auckland, reports stolen, supposed at Wellington, between the sth and 11th instant, from her cabin on board the s.s. “ Paparca ” two brooches—one with emerald in centre and an amethyst on each side (large stones), set in fine gold, not transparently; the other is made of two earrings set with a white stone in centre of each, surrounded with four amethysts, each amethyst divided by a knob of crinkled gold ; a gold keyless half-hunting watch, the figures on outside dial in blue enamel, the whole case very richly chased, and in a leather watch-case, short chain with tassel attached, value £ls; a bracelet set with garnets with small safety chain ; and a bracelet consisting of eight cameos, classic heads carved on each in lava of different shades.

Wellington. —J. M. Clarke, traveller, care of Rylands and Co., reports stolen, between the Bth and 11th instant, from his sample-baskets on the s.s. “Takapuna,” between New Plymouth and Wellington, or on the Wellington Wharf, three ladies’ shirt blouses, two made of mauve-and-white plaid, and one of red-and-green piaid ; about twelve ladies’ brown-and black-leather purses; twelve ladies’ white handkerchiefs, marked R on corner; several men’s browncoloured merino singlets, two ladies’ red-and-black-striped flanneleete skirts : value, £5. Blouses only identifiable.

Wellington. —Charles E. Fraser, waterworks foreman, reports stolen from a tool-chest in Bunny Street, on the 30th ultimo or Ist instant, two pairs of long rubber boots, one pair size 8, “ Whiteman ” written inside, two pairs size 9 ; value, £2 10s.

Wellington. —The Union Clothing Company, Manners Street, reports stolen on the s.s. “ Te Anau” in transit from Dunedin to Wellington, between the 21st and 23rd ultimo, three flannel undershirts, branded “ A Ae 0 0”; value, £1 2s. 6d.

Identification doubtful.

Rangiora. —James Kirk, tobacconist, reports that on the 10th instant his shop was broken into, and the following stolen : A box of Vanity Fair and half a box of Old Judge cigarettes, twelve packets Old Judge, 51b. Derby, and one box and a half Juno tobacco, three shaving-brushes with wooden bandies, two Kropp and two Bengal razors in cases, four white-handled pocket-knives, one meerschaum and seven wooden pipes (most of them marked “Don”), and Is. in coppers; value, £l4.

Dunedin. —John Louden, manager, Farmers’ Agency, reports stolen from his office, about the Ist ultimo, a doublebarrelled breech-loading hammerless gun, with 30 in. bluecoloured barrels, “ Pigeon gun ” stamped on them ; vulcanite butt; maker A. and W. McCarthy; value, £lO. Identifiable.

North-east Valley (Dunedin). —George Calder, settler, reports that about the 13th instant his shed was broken into and six packages of dynamite stolen ; value, £2 ss.
