Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
Auckland. — Arthur Wellesley Holland is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court to pay £1 a week towards the support of his children in Auckland. Description : A native of England, a labourer, forty-eight years of age, 5 ft. 3 in. high, stout build, dark hair beard whiskers and moustache, blue eyes, small scar on head ; fond of drink. (See Police Gazette , 1899, page 226, and 1900, pages 4 and 50.) He is now in arrears the sum of £243 10s.
Auckland.— Emilius Stream is charged on warrant with deserting his wife, Mary Catherine Stream, since the Ist instant. Description : A native of Sweden, forty-five years of age, 5 ft. 9 in. high, brown eyes, heavy steel-grey moustache, teeth very much decayed, bald on top of head, speaks with Swedish accent; dressed in navy-blue coat and vest and grey trousers. Supposed to have left Auckland for Wellington on the Ist instant, per s.s. “ Zealandia,” en route to Western Australia. He would probably travel steerage and under a fictitious name.
(See Police Gazette , 1895, pages 139 and 147.) Palmerston North. —Frank Hubble, charged with deserting his illegitimate child, was employed at the Ivanhoe Mine, Kalgoorlie, and was accidentally killed there on the 23rd August last by falling down a cutting.
Christchurch.— Mildred Yesey is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the maintenance of her illegitimate child. Description: Domestic servant, about thirty years of age, about 5 ft. 5 in. high, slight build, fair complexion, fair hair inclined to curl, supposed blue eyes, thin face, excitable manner; dresses plainly. Her last known address was Wilson Road, Wanganui. The child has been kept by Mrs. Lilian Lynham, of Christchurch, for years; but payments suddenly ceased a few months ago.
Christchurch.— William Ayres is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court to pay ss. a week towards the support of his illegitimate child. Description : A native of New Zealand, a labourer, about twenty-four years of age, 5 ft. 5$ in. high, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes (see Police Gazette , 1901, pages 117 and 158). Complainant: Susan Going, Christchurch. There was due on the 12th February last the sum of £5 ss.
Christchurch. — John Norton Wilson is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child. Description : A native of Ireland, a tailor, twenty-five years of age, sft. 9in. high, slight build, fair complexion, dark-blue eyes, dark curly hair, cleanshaved ; dressed when last seen in brown-check sac suit and brown Dr. Jim hat; his parents reside in Selwyn. Was last seen in Christchurch on the 14th ultimo. Complainant: Mary Goodfellow, 18, Lytton Street-, Sydenham.

Christchurch. —Alexander Charles Mills, charged with disobeying an order of Court for the support of his child, has been arrested by Constable J. A. Nelson, Dunedin police. Arrears paid.

Christchurch. —Leonard Pocock, charged with failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, has been arrested by Detective T. Boddam and Aoting-Detective J. J. Cassells, Wellington police, and remanded to Christchurch.
