Horse- and Cattle-stealing.
Hamilton. —Patrick Jones, horse-trainer, reports stolen from a paddock, on the Ist or 2nd instant, a chestnut hack pony mare, aged, 14 hands high, no visible brands, small white star on forehead, one white forefoot, and a crack down the front of one forefoot; value, £3. Identifiable.
Hamilton.— Arthur Petty, labourer, reports stolen, on the Ist or 2nd instant, a white hack gelding, eight years old, about 15 hands high, near hip down, shod all round ; value, £5. Identifiable.
Cambridge. —James Taylor, farmer, reports stolen, on the 30th or 31st ultimo, nine or ten yearling calves, mixed sexes, branded T on near ribs, and a V notch in near ears ; value, £2O. Identifiable. The stolen cattle were last seen on Mr. Buckland’s run, Puketutu, with their ears freshly faked to swallow-tail, point mutilated, and were taken from there by two persons riding—one a shod and the other an unshod horse. They were driving a mob of about thirty head, probably stolen, and went along the Puketuu bridletrack towards Wahoroa.

Palmerston North. —Thomas James Collinson’s horse stolen. The horse has been traced by the Christchurch police to the possession of Charles Cockery, who has been arrested by Constable T. E. De Norville, Palmerston North police, on other charges, and committed for trial.
Culverden. —John Coakley, storekeeper, reports stolen from a paddock at Sherwood, between the Ist May and 20th June last, a light draught bay gelding, nine years old, 15£ hands high, very large head, a white patch on near hind leg, no brands ; value, £l2. Identifiable.
