Feilding. —Michael Cooney Ryan, hotelkeeper, reports that on the 17th ultimo a man, name, unknown, forged and uttered a cheque to him for £9 6s. 6d., purporting to be signed by S. Daw, which has been declared a forgery. Offender is supposed English, about thirty-five years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. high, stout build, sallow complexion, dean shaved except dark moustache. The cheque was stolen from Mr. Daw’s cheque-book at Feilding, between the 6th and 17th ultimo.

Feilding. —William Joseph Baker, charged with default of fine and costs for procuring liquor when prohibited, has paid the amount due to the Waimate police.

Addington. — H. Richardson, alias Cowper, charged with assaulting a constable, has been arrested by Constable P. Ryan, Addington police, and fined £2 and costs, or seven days’ hard labour.

Wyndham. —James Nelson, charged with default of fine for drunkenness, has paid the amount due to Constable Bogue, Wyndham police.
