Horse and Cattle Stealing.
Port Albert. —Lambert Heywood, farmer, reports stolen, between the Ist April and 28th May last, twenty-three sixtooth ewes, tar mark on back with cross in circle, piece out of right ear ; value, £ll 10s.
Te Aroha. —Tuwhenua reports stolen at Waharoa, on the 12th or 13th February last, a dark-bay back horse, about fourteen years old, about 17 hands high, white face, three white legs, one fore foot white, white on belly extending under saddle-flap on one side; and an old saddle, a bridle, and a martingale : value, £l4 10s.
Te Aroha. —Samuel Shaw, settler, reports stolen, about the 28th May last, a dark-chestnut mare, about sixteen years old, about 14 hands 1 in. high, nugget build, branded “ J.L.” on near shoulder, white face and feet; supposed in foal: value, £5 10s.
Taihape. —Frank Garter, sawmiller, reports stolen from a stall behind Holmes’s boardinghouse, on the 9th ultimo, a bay mare, aged, about 14 hands high, white star on forehead, scar on off-leg, shod all round ; value, £9. Identifiable.
Manaia. —William Pearce, farmer, reports supposed stolen, on the 10th or 11th ultimo, a brown half-draught mare, aged, about 16 hands high, loDg tail; value, £ls. Two foals, one, a dark-bay horse, hack breed ; the other, a chestnut draughthorse, no brands, four white feet, white face, and silver mane. Total value, £29. Identifiable.

Johnsonville. — Andrew Fraser is charged on warrant with the theft of Walter Futter’s horse (recovered). Description : Supposed native of New Zealand, a baker, about twenty-three years of age, about 5 ft. 8 in. high, sallow complexion, no hair on face, slight build, slouching gait, one eye recently injured ; dressed in grey suit, light cap, and kid buttoned boots, sometimes wears a Dr. Jim hat, with a black band. Was last seen at Pahiatua on 25th ultimo, and may assume the name “ Dave Andrews,” or “ Andy Parker.” His father is a baker, residing at Haloombe.

Petone. — Andrew Fraser is charged on warrant with the theft of John Routh’s horse (recovered). For description of offender see preceding paragraph.
Kaiafoi. — Richard Moore, produce merchant, reports stolen from a paddock, on the 24th or 25th May last, an irongrey hack mare, four years and a half cld, 15 hands high, a scar from barbed wire on arm of one fore-leg ; not branded ; broken to saddle and harness : value, £2O.
