Missing Friends.
Matthew Miller is inquired for by the Auckland police, at the instance of his brother, William Miller, shipwright, Auckland. Description : A native of New Zealand, a carpenter, thirty-eight years of age, about 5 ft. 8 in. high, 12 st. weight, stout build, dark complexion, dark hair, side whiskers and moustache tinged with grey. He was at the Takapuna races, and was last heard of on the 24th ultimo, when he was in the Flagstaff Hotel, Devonport, drinking with Thomas Hill, Thomas Sadgrove, and a man named Houghton. Fears are entertained as to his safety, as no trace of him can be obtained. He was employed by J. Walters, New North Road, Auckland.
David Barclay is inquired for by the Dunedin police, at the instance of Mary Hendry, with a view of compelling him to provide for the future maintenance of his illegitimate child. Description : A native of New Zealand, a labourer, about twenty-eight years of age, stout build, very fair hair and complexion, round face, blue eyes, fair moustaohe, Dr. Jim hat. Supposed come to the North Island.
Henny. —lnformation is requested concerning Alphonse Henny. He was last heard of in April, 1900, at Dunedin, and was then a steward in one of the Union Steamship Company’s steamers. He is believed to have gone to Auckland, but no trace can be obtained of him there. Inquiry at the instance of his mother. (01/495.)
Chevallier.— lnformation is requested concerning Ferdinand Chevallier, who left France for New Zealand in October, 1874. He is now about fifty-eight years of age, medium height, rather tbin build, fair hair, a scar on one cheek showing the mark of two teeth the result of a dog-bite, is highly educated, and may be a tutor or teacher. On 15th August, 1876, he wrote from Auckland, but gave no address or occupation. Photograph filed in Commissioner’s office. (01/763.)
